I’m very interested in working on large-size

This is the question I’m sure my father would
have asked me if he were still here. He always
looked impatiently, energetically ahead to the
future. I’m sorry he wasn’t able to remain with
us long enough to get to know Patricia, and
that he isn’t here to share with us such an important moment for the company that meant
so much to him. Mutina’s next project will be
dedicated entirely to him.

For her first challenge in the ceramics field,
she has chosen Mutina as her ideal partner.
And with Mutina, she has created Déchirer, a
collection that explores its expressive potential using a ceramic material inspired by the
nature and the consistency of cement. The
guiding thread is the “reference to the sensations it provokes, with patterns that lie in the
memory of the past”, states Patricia Urquiola. “In the floor and wall slabs that make up
the collection, both plain and decorated elements appear, together with orthogonal and
hexagonal shapes and even large sizes. Like
traces of previous stratifications, overlapping,
contamination, irregular hints of decor and filigree threads run through the surfaces. The
slight decors are never evident, but they become clear as light and perspective change.
