Is Cuprinol Reducing Its Impact On The
Is Cuprinol reducing its impact on the environment?
Yes. And we are committed to continuing to do so.
We conduct all of our operations with respect for the environment. We are
continually working hard to reduce the impact of what we do by studying the
environmental impact of everything – from the source of our raw materials,
how our products are made, all the way to what happens to the packaging
once the product has been used.
The protection of wood is of major importance to the environment.
It ensures that wood is used to its full potential and will last as long as it can
before requiring replacement. Our products will not only make garden wood
look its best but make it last longer too, therefore reducing the demand for
trees to be cut down.
‘Step Towards Greener’ explains our philosophy - in order to
maintain the high quality of products we can’t change everything
overnight, but we are taking bold strides in the right direction.

We have produced product colours as accurately as printing will allow. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee an exact colour match, and the colours
contained in this guide should not be relied on as such. The appearance of the actual colour can be affected by the substrate and the texture of the
surface. Wherever colour testers are available, please use them on the actual surface to which the product is to be applied before undertaking the
application. This will give you a stronger indication of the appearance of the actual colour. If a colour tester is not available, then try the product
on a small, inconspicuous area of the surface before undertaking the full application.

The faster & easier way to protect sheds & fences
Cuprinol were the first to launch Sprayable shed and fence treatments, transforming
the way to treat and protect large areas of wood. Using a Cuprinol sprayer takes less
than half the time it takes with a brush, leaving you more time to relax and enjoy
your garden, safe in the knowledge that your wood is well protected.
Spray application is ideal for large areas of rough-sawn garden wood such
as sheds and fences, but is also perfect for intricate items such as trellis and
lattice-work. For best results, remove trellis from fence panels and spray
both sides before re-attaching.
Now you can treat, protect or add creative colour to all kinds of garden wood,
by using one of these high quality Cuprinol sprayers. Look for the ‘Sprayable Formula’
flash throughout this guide to help you find the fastest solution to your task!
For rich wood shades in just one coat, choose Cuprinol One Coat Sprayable Fence Treatment.
Alternatively, add a splash of contemporary colour with Cuprinol Garden Shades.

Treated with Cuprinol Decking Oil
& Protector(WB) in Natural Cedar
By replenishing the natural oils and resins lost through weathering, you can keep
your decking in great condition and help prevent the wood from cracking and splitting.
Cuprinol decking treatments enhance and protect decking from the elements with added
oils that help to waterproof and nourish the wood.
What look would you like to achieve?
Decking has become a stylish and popular alternative to patios but to keep a deck looking
its best, it will need to be protected from the weather as well as wear and tear.
The Cuprinol Decking range will help you to do just that, with products to clean, colour
and give all-year-round protection to decking.
Lightly Tinted finish
For a lightly tinted, natural finish,
use Cuprinol Decking Oil & Protector
or Sprayable Decking Oil.
Coloured finish
For rich colour and protection, use Cuprinol
Ultra Tough Decking Stain.

Garden furniture oils penetrate into the wood and replace the natural oils
lost through weathering. They’re ideal for use on new or newly-restored furniture
as they will keep the wood nourished and protect it from cracking or splitting.
Garden Furniture - Hardwood
garden furniture
A Glossary of useful terms
Added Waxes
Substances added to the product to provide water
shedding properties. They help to limit water ingress
into the wood and so help to protect it from water
damage.
Stain
Stains usually give a semi-transparent colour finish to
wood that allows the grain and texture of the wood
to come through. They protect it against the weather
whilst still allowing the wood to breathe, which is
important as it ensures that any moisture that enters
the wood can escape and doesn’t damage the wood
from the inside.
Oil
Oil products in garden woodcare are formulated
using oils from natural and sustainable materials such
as linseed, wood oil, etc. They tend to be used on
hardwood garden furniture or decking to provide a
matt, enhancing and natural finish. Oils penetrate into
the wood to nourish it and replace the natural oils lost
through weathering. As they don’t form a film on top
of the wood they tend to look more natural than stains.
Softwood
Softwood is derived from evergreen, relatively fast
growing conifers predominating in cooler climates.
Softwoods form the main building timbers in Europe,
North America and New Zealand. Generally, softwoods
are light weight and more prone to cracking, splitting
and attack by wood boring insects and wood rotting
fungi than hardwoods. Examples are pine, spruce,
hemlock, western red cedar and douglas fir.
Retain the natural beauty of your hardwood garden chairs, tables and benches with an easy
to apply Cuprinol Teak Oil product. They weatherproof and protect your hardwood garden
furntiture, to keep it looking great and lasting for years.
hardwood
Hardwood is derived from trees that predominate in
tropical climates. Such trees are slower growing than
conifers, giving wood that is denser and more resistant
to splitting and cracking. Many species are naturally
durable (resistant to rot and insect attack).
European examples are oak, walnut, ash, beach and
chestnut while tropical examples are mahogany, teak,
iroko, meranti and meranti.
Preserver
Preservers contain active ingredients that protect the
wood from either insect attack, fungal attack (rot) or
both. They often come in colours, which makes them
a superior alternative to stains due to their additional
protective properties.
Rough sawn Wood
Rough sawn wood is left as it is after the wood trunk
has been sawn into planks. It tends to be used for
fencing and sheds. All Cuprinol shed and fence products
have been specifically formulated for use on roughsawn garden timbers.
Smooth planed Wood
Smooth planed wood is planed after the trunk of the
tree has been sawn into planks. It is usually used for
joinery and furniture but also summerhouses, gazebos
and higher quality sheds and fences.
Bare Wood
Wood in its natural state and has no surface finish such
as paint, varnish or stain.
Deep Penetrating
Normally refers to a system designed to carry active
ingredients into the wood (wood preserver) to lengthen
protection from insects and rot. Deep penetrating is also
used in relation to natural oils which provide longerlasting nourishment to the wood or when referring
to waxes that help maintain water repellency longer.
