WHAT MAKES UP
A STUDY PROGRAMME?
All 16–19 year old students attending college are enrolled on to a Study Programme, which is
made up of the following elements:

or A–Levels, this is usually the biggest part of
your programme. You will complete a mix of
practical and theory work, depending on your
chosen subject.

until you achieve a minimum grade 5 (grade C)
or higher at GCSE. If you already have these

FREE FOR BOTH YEARS?
Yes. The fee remission is for the entire duration
of your qualification.
IF I DO HAVE TO PAY, CAN I GET ANY HELP
WITH PAYING FOR THE COURSE?

I HAVE LOST MY EXAM CERTIFICATES
FROM SCHOOL. IS THIS A PROBLEM?
Not at all. When you enrol, you will have to
sign a statement to confirm the qualifications
you already have.
WILL I BE IN CLASSES WITH YOUNGER
STUDENTS?
In most cases yes. The majority of our classes
are made up of 16-19 year-olds, but students
of any age are welcome to join.

GCSE RESIT PACKAGE
Are your GCSE results not quite what you had hoped?
OVERVIEW
Whether you want to change your D's to C or your C's to A's
our GCSE resit package offers you the chance to improve those
grades in core subjects and gain your passport to an exciting
future of further study, training or employment.
Our students this year have joined us with a mix of grades and
ambitions, with some wanting to go on to study A–Levels, some
onto Level 3 vocational courses and one student even has plans
to take over the family business! There is a place on this course
whatever your plans for the future.
You will study GCSEs in Maths, English Language, Science and
Sociology and can choose from GCSE Business or the Level 2
Higher Project qualification. As part of your study programme
you will also receive tutorial support and, to support your future
chances of employment, a work experience placement.3
YOUR POTENTIAL CAREERS
GCSEs are gateway qualifications to further study at A–Level,
Level 3, university and employment. They are also valued by
employers looking for apprentices.
The Level 2 Higher Project will equip you with the critical thinking
and independent working skills which will support success in all
your subjects and are much valued by employers.
FACILITIES
EFC has dedicated
classrooms, well-equipped
with PCs, laptops and
specialist resources for
students to use.
19
A–LEVELS
There are lots of benefits to studying A–Levels.
They are traditionally regarded as the most popular
route to University and Employment.
OVERVIEW
A–Level courses offer you the chance to focus your attention on a smaller number of subjects than
GCSEs, building your knowledge and understanding in the areas in which you have proven strengths
and strong interests.
Most students will choose 3 subjects from our selection of Arts and Humanities courses. Specialist
teaching staff and dedicated facilities are available to support these subjects. Studying A–Levels at
College also means that you have access to work experience, enrichment and career support, making
it a very different experience than studying at 6th form.

APPRENTICESHIPS
Last year, our success rate put EFC in the top
4% of general FE Colleges for Apprenticeships.
OVERVIEW
Apprenticeships offer a different path to
getting the qualifications and skills you need for
your chosen career. Instead of studying in the
classroom full-time, you have the chance to go
straight into work with a real employer, earn a
salary and gain a qualification at the same time.
DO I NEED TO HAVE A JOB TO APPLY?
No. If you haven’t got a job, get in touch!
We have access to lots of job opportunities
with local businesses and will help you find an
appropriate placement for your chosen subject.
You can also check vacancies on our website and
search on the National Apprenticeship Service.
If you already have a job and you or your
employer are thinking about an apprenticeship,
we will work with you and your employer to
identity the training that you need for your job.
WHAT SUPPORT WILL I GET?
A dedicated, specialist assessor will visit
you regularly at work to support your learning.
Your assessor will also provide support via your
e-portfolio as your training and job develops.
You will also have access to our dedicated
One Stop team who are here to help you with
any problems you might have.
WILL I NEED TO ATTEND COLLEGE?
Apprenticeships usually take place in the
workplace. However, you may need to come
in to the College for one or two days a week
to complete coursework and attend functional
skills classes if necessary. We have a flexible
approach and we will discuss a programme that
suits you, your employer and the College before
you start.
WHEN CAN I START?
If you’re applying for one of our vacancies, then
you can usually start immediately once you’ve
been interviewed and enrolled. Unlike our other
full-time programmes, there are no enrolment
deadlines and you can join us as an Apprentice
at any time of the year. If there are currently
no vacancies for your preferred apprenticeship,
we can support you in finding a job.
HOW TO APPLY
Visit our website to apply for any of our
vacancies or contact One Stop by phone:
