ON THE TRACTOR SEAT Volume 26, Issue 09 SEPTEMBER 2015 THE PRESIDENTS MESSAGE Hi everyone…. Welcome to a little relief from the AV Fair....It’s over for another year. Great Fair. The Rusty Relics display was outstanding. A lot of planning went into it. Starting with a display layout, by Acting Show Directors Ron Hanson, Bill Forbes, David Pickus and Paul Ogden, which all happened, days before we began to set-up. Set-up started on Thursday and we were ready to show on Friday afternoon. Great job by everyone…. Thank You, David & Luci Pickus for generating the laminated display signs and Ron for keeping track and writing in, and posting of all the display items. They looked great and very professional. The display signs helped the public to understand, what we are showing. Countless hours were spent at the Rusty Relics display area by the following club members: Ron Hanson, Bill Forbes & family, Larry & Cheryle Stacy, Robert Meyer, Scott Wachlin, Rodney & Lisa McKinney, Art & Rita Thomas, Ron Zega & Lisa Mathews, Phil Shiver, Don & Peggy Nave, Brent Van Voorst, George Becker, Gary Jolly, Jack (junior) MacGibbons, Carl Ross, Jerry Wood, Kent Butler, Tom & Maryln Ross, Lee Garner, & Steve Sturdevant…. Also had a nice visit from our National V.P. Don Young… I hope I didn’t miss anybody? -We had a fine display from Paul Ogden, unfortunately Paul took sick and was not able to attend the show…..Paul, get well. th -We have scheduled on September 19 , a Tractor Parade & afternoon brunch in Aqua Dulce, Ca. The chairperson for this event is Ron Zega. -We also need to plan on displaying at the “Mojave River Trail Days” event in Silverlakes/Helendale. This will be the first weekend in October. You’re Club President, Bob Hanson 1 RUSTY RELICS BUSINESS MEETING LAST HELD AUGUST 8, 2015 The meeting was called to order at 2:00 PM. Zackary Forbes held the flag and Phil Shiver led the flag salute. OFFICERS REPORTS: PRESIDENT: Bob Hanson thanked all those for getting here early for the work party. A special thanks goes out to Rodney McKinney and Phil Shiver for installing the Jack’s on the front of the Fairbanks Trailer, and for Paul Ogden donating the Jacks. They looked great and will make it much easier to move the big engine. Robert Meyers had to re-route a 200 lb. airline after the Jacks were installed. Looks ready to take to the AV Fair…….. Bob said that the visitation to the Nethercutt Museum was quite a place to visit and very unique. Bob, Ron and Rodney and his wife Lisa McKinney also attended the Museum Tour. VICE PRESIDENT: Bill Forbes attended the large Engine Show in Brooks, Oregon, and reported that it was very good. Bill reported that the AV Fair was coming up and has sign-in sheets Available. SECRETARY: Cheryle Stacy had no report. TREASURER: Linda Baker reported from July 1 to July 31, 2015 the beginning balance was $xxxx.xx, a deposit of $228.00, Checks paid out $1249. With an ending checking balance of $xxxx.xx. Checks paid out to Ron Zega in the amount of $85.88 for food, for the “Just for Fun Tractor Run”, EDGE & TA Insurance for $88., J.C. Taylor Insurance for the 1934 Truck and 1923 Club Car for $131.52., Hi Desert Trophy, for Banners $162., Bob Hanson for newsletters, May, June & July $229.60., EDGE & TA New Member $12., Lancaster Chamber of Commerce, parade entry fee $40. MEMBERSHIP CHAIRMAN: Ron Hanson reported 72 members on the books. SHOW DIRECTOR: Dan Morgan is assigning Ron, Bill & Zack to help at the Fair. 2 SAFETY DIRECTOR: Jess Baker said to be at the Fairgrounds at 6 AM to put up stakes. PURCHASING DIRECTOR: David Pickus had no report. PUBLISHER/EDITOR: Hoped everyone is enjoying the Tractor Seat. LIBRARIAN/Web master: Scott Wachlin updated the web site and reported an average of 762 hits each month, since the beginning of the year. OLD BUSINESS: Paul Ogden, Ron Hanson and David Pickus got together, and went over to Leesa’s property and hauled the large Connex back to the yard. Big job, but Paul made it look easy with his truck and low boy trailer. NEW BUSINESS: President Bob Hanson brought up the need for the club to purchase its own local PO Box, to be accessed by the Club Secretary & VicePresident. In the past we have been using the Baker’s Post Office Box. Larry Stacy made a motion and David Williams a second, motion passed. As monies come into the club through the Post Office Box such as Member Ship dues, or monies collected at the Fair from the sale of shirts, corn meal, and popcorn sales, a receipt will be generated by the club secretary and a copy given to the club treasurer with the monies collected. This is a form of Checks & Balances, and should help to better our record keeping. th We will have a potluck dinner at the AV Fair on August 30 at 4 PM. Steve Sturdevant volunteered to be the chairman. A motion was made by Diane Engle and a second by Bill Forbes, to have the potluck dinner, motion passed. Bill Forbes made a motion and Robert Meyers second the motion to give Steve Sturdivant a check for $100. To cover costs. Motion passed. -Acting Show Chairman Ron Hanson said, only people working and or displaying at the Fair, will receive Fair Passes. -Thank You David Pickus, for representing our Club at the AV Pre-Fair Dinner. -Linda Baker was asked to reserve the banquet room at Crazy Otto’s for our th Christmas Dinner, to be scheduled on December 12 …. -Ron Hanson, David Pickus and Don Nave agreed to get together before the parade and check the transmission bands on the Model T. Replace if needed. A motion of $250 was made to cover the cost of bands if needed. Motion by Ron Hanson, a second by Larry Stacy, motion passed. (Note, the adjusting of the bands took care of the slippage problems, new bands not req’d.). 3 David Pickus made a motion to close the meeting, a second by Steve Sturdevant, motion passed. Meeting closed at 2:51 PM with 24 members present, one guest of Diane Engle’s by the name of Lesley Guinne.
