NOTICE is hereby given that in accordance with section 139 of
the Mental Health Act 2013, approval of CHRIS SULLIVAN
as a mental health officer for provisions of the Mental Health
Act 2013 within the Chief Civil Psychiatrist and Chief Forensic
Psychiatrist's jurisdictions was revoked on 24 July 2014.
Public Notice - Dates of Closing of State Waters of
The Commercial Blacklip Abalone Fishery Around the
Furneaux Group of Islands
I, ROBERT GOTT, A/General Manager (Water and Marine
Resources), acting under Rule 9(3) of the Fisheries (Abalone)
Rules 2009, and delegated authority under Section 20(1) of
the Living Marine Resources Management Act 1995, hereby
determine that the dates of closing of State waters of the
abalone fishery around the Furneaux Group of islands to the
activities of the commercial take and possession of blacklip
abalone (Haliotis rubra) are as follows:
- from 8 August 2014 to 31 December 2014, inclusive;
where “State waters around the Furneaux Group of
islands” is defined to mean:- those State waters within an
area bounded in the east by an imaginary line commencing
at the point latitude 40° 38’ 02.92” South and longitude 148°
10’ 49.31” East then running due north to the line of high
water at South Head on Clarke Island then following the line
of high water generally north-west to Seal Point then running
generally east to Passage Point then following the line of high
water generally east and north to Puncheon Point then running
generally north to Pot Boil Point then following the line of
high water generally north to the line of latitude 39° 45’ 24.84”
South and then running generally north-east to the point of
latitude 39° 35’ 39.29” South and longitude 148° 04’ 52.60”
East, and bounded in the west by the line of longitude 147° 37’
11.33” East, and bounded in the north by the line of latitude at
39° 35’ 39.29” South, and bounded in the south by the line of
latitude at 40° 38’ 02.92” South.
For the purpose of this public notice, “possession” does not
include blacklip abalone on a fishing vessel that is transiting
the part of State waters closed to the abalone fishery if the
blacklip abalone possessed on the vessel were taken from a part
of State waters that is open to the abalone fishery and, while
the fishing vessel is transiting the part of State waters closed
to the abalone fishery, a person does not dive from, or enter the
water from, the fishing vessel or auxiliary vessel used from the
fishing vessel.

INFORMATION
The commercial blacklip abalone fishery in State waters on the
western side of the Furneaux Group of islands is being closed
from 8 August 2014 until 31 December 2014 inclusive as part
of arrangements to control the total amount of blacklip abalone
harvested in this area in the interest of resource sustainability.
This closed area relates to commercial blacklip abalone fishing
in fishing blocks 32A, 32B, 32C, 34A, 34B, 34C, 34D, 35A,
35B, 35C, 35D, 35E, 37A, 37B, 37C and 37D only.
