Comedy Night Out
Comedy Night Out Your guide to hosting a night of giggles and fundraising for WaterAid Hosting your Comedy Night Out Choose your date Most people will be holding their Comedy Night Out on World Toilet Day, 19 November, but you don’t have to follow the crowd! Choose a date in November that works best for you. Contact a local venue Get in touch with venues to ask if they will support you to host a night of fundraising comedy for WaterAid. Book your comedians! Research two or three performers and a host MC - this is easiest through an existing promoter - or consider hosting an open mic comedy night! Tell everybody! Promote the event to your friends and colleagues, using our handy poster template. Share the event over email and on your social media channels using #itsnojoke, and remember to get your night listed in local newspapers, magazines and blogs too! Ask for money Think about the best way to do this. Will it be a collection on the night? Will you charge at the door? If you sell tickets in advance, there are ticket selling sites that make this easy. Remember to put a link to your tickets on your promotional materials! Just $25 can give children safe toilets at school. For those who can’t make it on the night, you can set up an Everyday Hero online supporter page so they can still support WaterAid and donate. Visit: www.itsnojoke.org.au to get started! Hot Tip Charging $20 makes managing money on the door much easier, as there is less change involved. Share your night! Tweet or share a picture of your Comedy Night Out with @wateraidaus or www.facebook.com/wateraidaustralia, using #itsnojoke Don’t forget to send us the money! Add up your funny money and pay it in using your Everyday Hero supporter page or our downloadable pay it in form. Remember to thank everyone – from performers to attendees – and tell them how much their laughs have raised. Loos are life savers! We all take our toilets for granted, but 1 in 3 people around the world don’t have access to one. Going to the toilet outside is no joke – it can spread diseases that kill a child every minute. By holding a Comedy Night Out you’re raising money to change this. Don’t have the time for the full challenge? Many comedy clubs have charity nights – so why not ask if you can collect for WaterAid at one in the lead up to to World Toilet Day? WaterAid Australia ABN: 99 700 687 141
