beach and magnificent colour of the water Gramvousa
is a much more attractive and safer place. There is

approaching Akti special caution needs
to be taken of underwater rocks lying
off the harbour.

Not much of a picturesque ferry harbour affording all-round shelter. During strong northerly
and easterly winds entering and leaving the harbour may be difficult. Yachts can winter afloat
in the harbour and repairs can be done. The possibility to top up water and fuel delivered by
mini-tankers. A taverna, harbour master’s office, customs. There are shops and a taverna as well
as medical aid in the village of Kissamos located there kilometres to the south-east of Kavonisi.

Two large bays with sandy beaches offer shelter from
northerlies and easterlies. The Lafonisoporo is also sheltered
from southerlies and it is in this bay that the more attractive
of the beaches can be found. There are underwater rocks
in many places in both bays.

The anchorage is sheltered from northerlies only, however, it is not safe during
strong northerly wind due to strong gusts off the coast. A shingle beach and
a bay carrying its name after the village where there are shops and a lot of
tavernas. The picturesque gorge formed in rocks by waters flowing down
the mountains is the biggest attraction of Agia Rumeli.

strong gusts off the coast. A long pebble beach. A shop
and numerous tavernas, a small fishing harbour in the

Two bays affording all-round shelter except for southerlies. One of the
safest anchorages on the southern coast of Crete. There is a small beach
with a nearby taverna in Fionikias. There is no attractive beach in Loutro,
however, there is a shop with basic provisions and lots of tavernas.
The bay with a few sandy beaches. Anchoring safe in settled weather only,
lots of underwater rocks. Quite well preserved ruins of a stronghold are
an attraction here.

The harbour is sheltered from all winds, however, during high northerly winds there are very severe and
perilous gusts off the coast. It is located one kilometre away from an attractive village humming with life,
where there are plenty of tavernas, shops, medical aid and harbour master’s office. Entering and leaving the
harbour during high northerly wind is impossible. Keep close to the southern breakwater while entering
the harbour due to depth.
