Oquirrh Hills Middle School
Brooke Ballard - 9th Grade Student
A 4.0 student, Brooke has demonstrated the qualities of leadership we seek in OHMS students.
Though a little reserved in class, Brooke is very involved in school. She is good to ask questions and
make sure she understands the concepts being taught. While some students are simply focused on
the grade, Brooke's teachers say she is in it for mastery. She looks for the deeper content being
taught and really wants to learn what teachers are teaching. She strives to do the very best in
everything she does at school. Because of her caring personality, other students look up to Brooke.
She often works as a peer tutor both inside and outside of class, assisting students who are
struggling with their studies. In short, Brooke is a model student. She is proactive in trying to help
and serve others.
Michael Westberg – 9th Grade Student
Michael is very responsible. A member of the NJHS Council, he helps to plan and carry out service
activities. All of Michael’s teachers are impressed with his kind and simple, “thank you” every day as
he leaves their classroom. His show of gratitude has left a profound impression on them. Michael
also stands out because he is very outgoing. Since his 7th-grade year, Michael has made it a point
to say hello and give a high-five on a regular basis to all the teachers and staff at OHMS. In his
classes, Michael does the highest quality work and always turns things in on time. His quality work
ethic is a great example to other students. He is consistently on task and very engaged in his
education. He is a great leader and contributor in group activities and discussions. Not only does he
surround himself with high quality friends, he brings others up because of his high standards, integrity
and model behavior. He is very friendly and caring to others and lives life with a smile on his face.
We at OHMS are pleased to recognize Michael for his contributions to our great school.
Natalie Bartholomew – 7th, 8th, & 9th Grade Counselor
Natalie, or Ms. "B", is truly a remarkable person. One of the happiest people I have ever met, she has
been at Oquirrh Hills for the past four years and has made a measurable difference with both students
and staff she interacts with. She is a real team builder who brings a great smile and positive attitude
to work every day. Her enthusiasm and energy are contagious. From crisis management to the
mundane schedule change, Natalie always puts her best efforts into everything she does, finding
solutions and success. The students and staff at OHMS have truly benefited from her being a part of
our team over the past four years.
