To all pets
who’ve missed
their boosters
You can
come out now...
Unfortunately, your pet's immunity can fade if
booster vaccinations are not given annually.
If you're in that situation it may mean that vaccinations need to
be re-started with a completely new course. Here's a special
incentive to get your pet's vaccination status back up to date.
We'll give your pet a completely new
course for the price of a booster!
Please call or ask at Reception for more details.

DRY EYE...
'Dry-eye' is a common and serious
condition affecting tear production
and sight.
Tear glands are progressively destroyed,
reducing and eventually stopping tear
production. The eyes become painful,
undesirable changes develop and vision
is gradually lost.
It's vital to diagnose this painful condition
early, as research shows that early
treatment is most effective.
This condition affects some breeds more
commonly than others, and your pet may
be at risk. Dry-eye is not always obvious
by looking - tear measurement is needed
to check if your dog is affected.
To make an appointment to have your
dogs tear production measured, please
contact us at the practice. This is a quick
and easy test with immediate results.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
SENIOR CAT EVENING

all of our clients who attended.
SCARSDALE DOG SHOW
Thank you to everyone who attended
our charity event on Darley Park.

taking photos on the day and these
can be viewed on their website:
www.shawpictures.co.uk. A percentage
of the profits made from the Dog
Show's photos will also be donated
to the charity.

DOGS ARE AT RISK...
KENNEL
COUGH
Kennel cough is an infectious disease of the airways characterised
by a harsh, hacking cough that most people describe as sounding
like ‘something stuck in my dog's throat.’
It is similar to a chest cold for humans and
is only a serious condition in special
circumstances. A dog with kennel cough
generally feels active and maintains a normal
appetite despite frequent fits of coughing.
There is usually no fever or listlessness, just
lots of coughing.
not include vaccination against kennel cough.
Only intranasal vaccines offer protection
against Bordetella.
Dogs are at risk wherever they congregate - in
boarding kennels, training classes or simply out
on walks. The annual booster injection offers
protection against many of the viruses but does
The Scarsdale Veterinary Group offer the
Kennel Cough vaccine at a discounted price
of £18.02 if you have you have it done at
the same time as the annual booster injection.
Dogs can be protected with an intranasal
dose of Kennel Cough vaccine one week
prior to going into kennels.
Rabbit Awareness
A healthy life style is essential in rabbits
just as it is with us. Lots of exercise,
appropriate diet and mental stimulation
will all help to ensure that your rabbit
is fit and healthy.
Myxomatosis, VHD,E.Cuniculi, Flystrike, Fleas
and Mites are common diseases and problems
that can all be prevented through vaccination
or preventative treatment.
Obesity in rabbits is an increasing problem
in our pets. The desire to be 'kind' to our
small 'fury friend' means that we often tend to
over feed them - as well as, more importantly,
feed the inappropriate foods. The extra weight
means that grooming becomes difficult, so
secondary problems such as fly strike occur.
Prevention is always better than cure, but
should the worst happen and your rabbit
becomes ill - vet bills can soon mount up.
Find out how to protect and insure your pet
should the unthinkable happen.
All the above issues can be discussed with
one of our healthcare nurses. Please call
Derby on 01332 345191 or Burton on
01283 568162 for a FREE nurse consultation.
