Red-White-Blue Brochure 1.pub
Dear Racer,
I would like to take this time to introduce myself. My name is Ira Edwards, and I am a Nordic
Technical Representative for Rossignol Ski Company, a member of the Quiksilver/Rossignol
Group. I have been racing and working for Rossignol for over 12 years and involved in
Nordic racing for even longer. I will be working closely with Geoff Hurwitch, the Rossignol
Nordic Product and Race Manager for the US, to review your resume and to determine
where you best fit in the Rossignol family.
Rossignol is very excited about the growth of junior racing in the U.S. and we would like to
help you achieve your ski racing goals. We currently make the best skis, boots and
bindings in the world, and both our national and international results attest to that fact.
After refining and redesigning our ski and boot line for 2007/08, Rossignol has developed
the most state of the art ski equipment available today.
The RED, WHITE, & BLUE Support Program is designed as an incentive plan for those
athletes who are truly serious about ski racing. With the help of the top race department in
the industry, Rossignol is offering you the support you may need to make that next step in
your racing career. At the same time, Rossignol is looking to it’s athletes to promote not
only our products, but also the sport of Nordic Skiing by being active in their communities
and being enthusiastic about our sport.
Your equipment will be hand selected from the Rossignol Race Room by Geoff Hurwitch.
Geoff works closely with the manufacturing facilities of our skis and also with the World Cup
Servicemen to ensure that we can provide the best equipment to our athletes.
Please review the enclosed information about Rossignol and our history. If you are
interested in our program, please follow the directions for application. All applications will
be due by May 15, 2007 via email to myself. Have a great summer and I look forward to
hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Ira Edwards

COMPANY INFORMATION
1907-2007. Rossignol is 100 years old. 100 years during which we have always been thrilled by the
mountains, 100 years of passionate commitment, 100 years in which we have lived our professional
skills to the full. Icon of the past, symbol of the present, Rossignol, inspired by our roots and our
exceptional historical heritage, has built the future every day. Another milestone in our brand's
development is that we now have developed an authentically modern Mountain life style, with Hard
and Soft goods for the winter and the summertime too.
Brand mission
Tomorrow, Rossignol will be entering into yet another new stage in its brand development, evolving
from a snowsport-specific brand, to a Mountain Lifestyle Brand. Rossignol’s new phase includes
product design and development for all year-round mountain sports and culture, and the lifestyle
that goes along with this. A new Rossignol, with more lifestyle focus than ever before, strongly
supports Rossignol’s branding as a Pure Mountain Company. This is a strong and universal
message, which expresses a clear ambition: to become the brand for everyone who shares
Rossignol’s passion for the mountain lifestyle. In short, we aim to be known as the most progressive and authentic mountain brand on the market.
Brand philosophy:
Pure Mountain Company
We live for the mountains, because we need to experience the mountains every day of every year.
Begin with the world’s best athletes. Listen to them. Outfit them. Make them better. Before, it was
only about product and specs and design. And it still is, but now our innovations have a pulse, a
human desire, and a meaning. Under our technology beats a heart. We use this expertise to create
technical gear to do the stuff we love to do. Then we use the same intensity to create all that is
casual. Because that’s how we live in the mountains: through product that enhances the lifestyle.
We are a fundamental ingredient of the lifestyle. We are part of the lexicon. Not just the most
respected brand, but a word that is synonymous with great memories, epic adventures and
incredible friends. And yes, anyone can say they’re an authentic mountain sports lifestyle brand.
We can prove it. With our athlete-based R&D, our leading technology and our real connection to
the mountains. To most, the mountains are a part of the environment. Not for us. For us, the
mountains are the blood that flows in our veins. This is the place where we become who we were
meant to be. Here the air is different. Cleaner, cooler, fresher. It enables a sense of freedom and
space that opens the mind and encourages adventure. And it challenges us to accomplish the
Unimaginable. The mountains give us a sense of place within a complex space. They deliver
energy and inspire. Here we find ourselves. And whether it’s winning a 15km Mass start race,
dropping a cornice, grinding rails, capturing first tracks or simply climbing to the top, these
mountains feed those who love them.
Products
We design and manufacture Skis, Bindings, Ski Boots (Alpine and Nordic), Snowboards, Technical
Equipment. And we develop Softgoods Collections for all seasons. Products that are made by
people committed to perfection, and who understand what the mountain requires. Excellent value,
high reliability, quality, attractive design.
History
Carpenter Abel Rossignol, a very committed skier, made his first skis out of solid wood in 1907. In
1937, Emile Allais became world champion on Rossignol skis. With Rossignol Olympic 41 skis, Henri
Oreiller became the first French Olympic champion in history, in 1948. The Rossignol saga was
already a legend. In 1956, Laurent Boix-Vives bought the company and started to sell Rossignol
skis all over the world.
46 years of success and international growth since 1960
Jean Vuarnet won the 1960 Squaw Valley Winter Olympics on Allais 60s, the first all-metal skis. In
1964, Rossignol scored an international success with Strato, the first glass fiber skis. In the
Seventies, Rossignol opened for business in the USA, launched its first Nordic skis and became the
biggest ski manufacturer in the world. In 1971, Rossignol introduced it’s first (wooden)
cross-country skis, manufactured in Sweden. In 1974, The manufacturing of fiberglass
cross-country skis began at the production facility in Voiron, France. More importantly, Rossignol
formed a cross-country division to address the needs of a rapidly expanding market. Rossignol
enlisted the service of Bill Koch, an Olympic racer and technician, as a consultant for cross-country
ski development. Bill Went on to win World Championship Bronze medal and the Overall World Cup
in 1982
After launching our Alpine ski boot range in 1990, we developed our bindings range and then
successfully diversified into snowboards and textiles. We launched our Nordic boot line for the Albertville Olympics. As the overall ski brand medal winner of the Calgary, Albertville and Lillehammer Winter Olympics, Rossignol became the uncontested world leader in winter sports.
Champions of legend winning hundreds of medals
Rossignol skis rose to fame through generations of legendary Champions starting with Bill Koch of
World Cup fame, and moving on to include athletes at the 2007 Nordic World Championships
Rossignol Nordic enjoyed an unbelievable season, dominating competitions on the international stage, in
both the Men’s and Women’s fields of World Cup and World Championships...and proving the superiority of Rossignol’s
X-ium Solar skis, boots and bindings along the way! Even Torin Koos from the USA earned a podium finish this year on his
complete Rossignol package of Skis, Boots and Bindings.
With 40% of the World Cup XC victories taken by Rossignol athletes (making up only 10% of the field!), Rossignol Nordic has a lot to
smile about with these exceptional results from our world-class athletes. Congratulations to everyone for a great year!

Rossignol X-ium technology provides cutting-edge performance and continues to lead our athletes to gold after gold.
With a new sidecut of 44/43/43, the X-ium skate ski boasts a full carbon deck to increase torsional rigidity, while improving
camber and glide. Keeping the power of the cobra cut and the double-groove for stability, the new X-ium benefits even
further from the new finer grind. The Rossignol Classic skis will remain as they are (why change a good thing?!),but have
received a fresh new look in the cosmetics. The NIS accepts both the NNN NIS Skate or Classic binding, and will also
allow mounting of an SNS system binding, drilled right through the NIS plate. For extra stability and adjustment potential
never before seen in Nordic bindings, go with the NIS system!
Rossignol’s new skate boots have improved zippers, and heel-retention padding for improved hold, along with a fresh and
highly visible color. The X-ium World Cup Skate boots still maintain double-lacing, the thermo-adjustable fit, and like the
World Cup Pursuit and Classic boots, are available in both regular and low-volume fits. The Classic boot’s soft
midsole/outsole combination with a low cuff upper offers a powerful kick and excellent control.
Finally, Rossignol is proud to announce that for the first time, the X-ium packages are available in Women’s-specific
graphics, while still taking full advantage of the same high-performance and competition-proven Rossignol technologies.
