Conch Shell Blowing Contest — An island tradition for more
than 50 years, this unique contest celebrates the historic
importance of conch in the Keys and features contestants in
several age categories attempting to make “music” with fluted
conch shells. The contest is located in the garden of the Oldest

Here Come the Mummies — While there are plenty of funk
bands alive and kicking in the United States, there’s only one
that’s made up entirely of mummies, that being Nashville,
Tennessee’s Here Come the Mummies. Careful to keep their
identities, pun intended, under wraps, the band performs their
funk/R&B jams completely wrapped up while using aliases like
“Eddie Mummy,” “Bucking Blanco,” and “Mummy Cass.” Show
starts at 8 p.m. at the Key West Theater, 512 Eaton Street. Must

Harry S. Truman Legacy Symposium — Key West’s political
history is highlighted in panel discussions, a reception and
