C Soft Cloth cker Panel Includes Roe Scrub. and Tir “It was like the bar in Cheers, you knew everybody. I knew every kid in high school.” The hard part for him was leaving to attend Florida State University. “Suddenly you’re surrounded by strangers,” he adds. After earning a degree in hotel and restaurant management, Tony returned to Key West and was hired to open the delivery store for Pizza Hut. He then worked for Michael Knowles at Holiday Inn Beachside in the banquet department and loved it. Opportunity kept knocking for Estenoz, this time it was through the softball team he and his father ran for the former Blaylock Oil plant in Marathon. Bill, a Blaylock sales rep, was on the team and asked Tony to manage a Cinnabon he planned to open downtown. That deal fell through but Bill ended up buying the Key Haven Texaco. He eventually moved the Texaco to its current location at the corner of N. Roosevelt Boulevard and 1st Street in 1996 and Estenoz became his managing partner. The Southernmost Shell isn’t just a filling station. “The carwash has been a big asset, it’s convenient, soft cloth and works very well,” says Estenoz. They also have two new lifts for convenient oil change service. Tony’s Café offers delicious comfort food including their award-winning BBQ ribs and brisket. Stop in for a Cuban coffee and say hi to Katie, their four-legged mascot. They also deliver. “I like to get to know someone new every day.” – Tony Estenoz by Susan Kochan MARCH SPECIAL FREE CAR WASH WITH OIL CHANGE JOIN TONY’S CLEAN CAR CLUB! Co-owner’s Ben Richmond, originally from Chicago, and Scott Loose, originally from Michigan, have been in Key West for more than 20 years before opening a restaurant designed with the motto of “Bringing the Midwest to Key West.” Chicago’s, a restaurant, bar, and blues club, offers a wonderful alternative to Key West’s standard Floribbean fare. Walking up to Chicago’s in the heart of Old Town you’ll a see a porch with comfortable chairs and a large sitting area designed to maximize people watching, enjoying good drink and eats, and puffing on a full-bodied cigar. Chicago’s offers more than 230 different cigars for sale, all stored in their temperature-controlled humidor. With one of the largest walk-in humidors in Key West it is worth a visit to see the cigars on display under a classic portrait of Hemingway smoking a stogie. Inside Chicago’s you’ll find a large wrap-around bar and tables for both large groups of friends and intimate dining for two. Delicious and earthy food is the focus of the restaurant. Seafood options include local Key West yellowtail and mahi mahi, as well as hard to find options like catfish and freshwater lake perch, a true treat if you’ve ever had the chance to savor these delicate, mild fish fillets from up north. 16 | www.Our-Keys.com | March 2016 | Issue 43 Many of the seafood entrees can be served grilled, blackened, or breaded. And if you want a Chicagobased delicacy that you can’t find anywhere else in Key West go for an order of the frog legs! In addition to seafood, Chicago’s offers a variety of hearty fare including ribs, pork chops, cornbread, smoked tomato soup, and mac and cheese. A special mention, however, must be made for Chicago’s pizza options. Chicago’s offers both New York style and authentic deep dish Chicago style pizza. The deep dish pizza is 16 inches in diameter, holds up to three pounds of cheese, and can feed ten to twelve people. It takes a while for this pizza to cook; one good tip is to order the pizza before you arrive at the restaurant to reduce wait times. Of course, it’s not hard to wait at Chicago’s: nightly a jamming blues band will be playing in the corner stage and there’s also live music at happy hour between 3:30 and 6:30pm, Monday through Friday. Chicago’s also offers a smaller 8-inch deep dish pizza that serves four people. Chicago’s is open 7 days a week, 11:00am to midnight Monday through Friday, 11:00am to 4:00am Friday and Saturday. On Saturday, Latin dancing starts at midnight and goes to 4:00am. Locals get a 10% discount. Chicago’s is a great place to relax, eat delicious food, and chill to the blues. by Micheal Tramore 610 Greene Street, Key West 305-741-7891 chicagoskw.com Full Menu - Lunch 11-5, Dinner 5-10 Open 7 Days - 11am to Midnight umidor Cigar_H ____ Cigars f o s ie t ie r a 250 V Serving Original Chicago Deep Dish Pizza Live Music Daily Go to ChicagosKW.com for full schedule Amandah Jantzen Dinner Jazz Mon. - Sat. 4:30-7:30pm Happy Hour Prices for Food & Drinks 3:30-5:30pm Monday - Friday Musical Happy Hour 3:30-6:30pm Monday - Friday BBQ Bacon Wrapped Shrimp $6 Large Shrimp wrapped in smoked bacon, served with sweet BBQ dipping sauce Conch Fritters $5 Traditional Bahamian recipe of ground conch, bell peppers, celery, onions & our secret seasoning, fried to perfection, served with aioli or tartar sauce Calamari with Banana Peppers $5 Fried to perfection & served with Thai chili glaze, marinara or tartar sauce Shrimp Cocktail $7 Chilled Jumbo shrimp, served with our signature cocktail sauce Crab Cakes $7 Jumbo Lump crab cakes, accompanied with aioli, tartar sauce Shrimp DeJonghe March 1st thru 17th George Freeman Blues Every Night at 7:30pm $7 A specialty of Chicago, is a casserole of whole peeled shrimp blanketed in soft, garlicky, sherry-laced bread crumbs Rib Tips $5 Succulent St. Louis pork rib tips marinated in our original BBQ sauce, slowly hickory smoked and finished on the grill Catfish Bites $4 Crunchy catfish bites, served with signature aioli or tartar sauce with special guest Maurice Brown on Selected Nights March 18th thru 31st Pistol Pete Trio Blues Every Night at 7:30pm Rosemary Cornbread $3 Freshly baked cornbread, infused with Rosemary and Olive Oil, served in a cast iron skillet Frog Legs $8 One of the better-known delicacies in the Chicago area, lightly crusted and fried golden brown Windy City Wings $5 Wings naked or breaded, choice of BBQ, Buffalo, Thai 50% OFF New Chicago 8” Deep Dish New York Style 16” Pizza Comes with 2 toppings, additional toppings $1.50 each 2 for 1 Well Drinks, House Wines & Domestic Beers Locals Discount 10% Off with this Ad Give The Local Feed.
