September - December 2015 The Source Wixom Public Library Library Hours exploring childhood literacy Monday 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. new Early learning play area Tuesday 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. The Children’s Department has added an interactive play area thanks to a donation Wednesday 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. from the Friends of the Library. There are a variety of new items, including a kitchen, Thursday 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. dress-up area, and create-it station joining our puppet theater and lego stand. We hope Friday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. this space will encourage your children to learn and grow as they use their imagination. Saturday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Sunday Closed bedtime math The WPL is excited to introduce a new kind of weekly math club for kids in grades K-5 where we’ll library closures build, run, jump, make music, and more! For grade-specific session information, please see inside. September 5-7: Labor Day beanstack November 11: Veteran’s Day The Library recently subscribed to Beanstack to provide interactive, personalized November 25: Close at 5 reading recommendations for children ages 0-12. Parents create an account to November 26-28: receive weekly emails from the Library with a personalized book recommendation Thanksgiving and interactive reading activities. App recommendations are also available. December 24 - 26: Christmas December 31 - January 2: september is National Library Card Registration Month New Year’s Your library card is the smartest card in your wallet! Introduce your Wixom friends and neighbors to the Library and show them all the benefits of a library card. Anyone who gets a library card or refers board meetings someone to get a card will have your name entered into a drawing for a prize basket. This fall, five area libraries (Lyon Township, Northville, Novi, Salem-South Lyon and Wixom) encourage our readers to check out a copy of Lisette’s List by Susan Vreeland. Copies of the book are available at the Library. Join this great multi-community event that brings neighboring libraries together to strengthen community ties and promote literacy.
