P a m i n d u d d in thh kit are circled in red.# This kit mdy contain more pans that are actually required to sewice a given carburetor. When similar gaskets or pamare included in the kit. compare with original pans. DISASSEMBLY Holley Carburetor Models: 23006,E.G., M.G. 2380 E.G. Chake plate and throttle plate screws are staked to prevent loosening, if necessary to remove choke plate or throttle plates lightly file off the staking prior to removing screws. NOTE: Electronic governor solenoid and cover assembly is factory set and must not be disassembled. Make a note of the governor by-pass jet numbers and positions. The pump check ball 1108)is not removable. NOMENCLATURE Rest the carburetor on a repair nand to avoid damage to the throttle plates during renew procedures. Use exploded view as a guide. and follow the numerical sequence in general to disassemble unit far enough to permit cleaning and inspection. Use a carburetor solvent, lacquer thinner or denatured alcohol. Make certain the throttle body is free of all hard carbon deposits. Wash off in suitable MIvent. Blow out all passages in castings with compressed air and check carefully to insure thorough cleaning of obscure areas. CAUTION: Do not soak pans containing rubber or plastic material. Serious damage could result. Fuel bowls, should only be exposed to carburetor cleaner long enough to permit removal of gum and varnish deposits with a brush. (NOTE: Some fuel bowls have internal "0" ring seals which are not removable, but can be damaged by prolonged exposure to some carburetor cleaning solvents.) gasket 136. Fast idle cam lever screw 137. Note special instructions and follow outline in making adjustments. Manually operate the throttle lever and choke mechanism, checking for binding or malfunction. Any binding or interference could cause throttle to stick during operation and result in loss of carburetor throttle control lor uncontrolledengine speed). Check carburetor to be sure there are no leaks, flooding which might cause a fire. SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS IDLE ADJUSTING NEEDLE - Tapered portion of needle must be straight and smooth. If grooved or ridged, a new needle should be installed. - CHOKE PLATE 6 THROlTLE PLATE SCREWS After the screws are tightened lightly stake in position with a punch to prevent unloosening. POOG GOVERNOR DIAPHRAGM INSTALLATION - When reassembling the governor assembly, place the diaphragm and diaphragm cover in position, Insert cover screws and lockwashers. Turn the screws in until the flanges almost meet. but do not tighten. Hook the end of the diaphragm rod into the slot provided in the governor diaphragm gauge IKent Moore Tool No. 10-1871.Then place the gauge over thecover housing and tighten screws evenly. If gauge is not available, stretch and hold diaphragm rod by hand until center line of hook end of dia~hraam . - rod and center line of the bossmatch. Then tighten screws evenly while maintaining diaphragm stretched in this position.
