Malaysia Day Treat
I ENTERED the #unitedwithNaza
contest never thinking I had a
chance of winning. Lo and behold,
my entry was selected as the top of
the pack. Thus, I had the esteemed
privilege of driving the Peugeot 508
GT for the Malaysia Day weekend.
As the win came unexpectedly,
there was not anything particularly
special planned for the weekend.
Even so, there was no way I was
wasting the weekend without taking
the French Lion out for a spin. I
took the extended family for a drive
around town.
Style, features, drivability, all of
them turned out to be my favourite
aspects of the Peugeot 508 GT. It was
a very comfortable drive no matter
where we were heading and the
distance felt shorter. One word to
describe the drivability: Intuitive.
The most interesting features
in the car that were also the most
convenient were the cornering light
function, blind spot sensors and how
all controls were close to the steering
wheel. They were all within close
reach as I’m driving. This allowed
me to focus on the road better.
Once they saw the Peugeot 508
GT, my family and friends exclaimed
how grand and elegant it was. I drove
my grandfather to attend a dinner
maintained automatically via engine
deceleration.
When the road becomes clear
either with changing lanes or the
vehicle in front gains momentum,
the cruise control returns to the
reference values requested initially.
The Emergency Collision Alert
system uses constant radar to detect
the distance with vehicle in front. If
it is too close, a visual and audible
warning indicates to the driver that
they should press the brake pedal to
prevent possible collision.
Its Emergency Collision Braking
means that if an imminent collision
with the vehicle in front is detected,
the system applies automatic braking
to warn the driver, prevent the impact,
or to reduce its consequences.
Its advancements include airconditioning excellence by way of
automatic dual-zone climate control;
unique vehicular configurations,
driving aids combining the driver
assistance pack and park assist via an
integrated reverse camera for added
assurance; multimedia capabilities
to power the radio, iPod, and audio
streaming; telephone management
tools for seamless access to contacts
and profiles, call waiting control, and
much more.
Peugeot’s new generation EMP2
platform is responsible for a total of
140 kilogrammes weight reduction
of the car, and overall enhanced

Sdn. Bhd. held a contest in
conjunction with the Merdeka
Day celebrations that aimed to
capture what we loved the most
about Malaysia and entries were
overwhelming to say the least.
The Peugeot Merdeka contest
was held from 10 August 2015 to 16
September 2015, the last day being
Malaysia Day; a fitting conclusion to
a patriotism-themed contest.
Pa r t icipat ion wa s ex t remely
simple. The first step was to snap an
original photo of what you love most
about Malaysia. It was as simple as
that; no rules, themes or angles to
follow. Unsurprisingly, over 3000
entries were received.
Following that, you just had
to upload it on Instagram with
the following caption, “I’m in the
running to win an Iphone 6! Join the
#PeugeotMerdeka contest and be a @
Peugeotmalaysia winner.”
As mentioned, the prizes for first
and second is an iPhone 6 while the
third and fourth places received
Peugeot merchandise worth RM300.

At high speeds, the electric power
steering assistance is toned down
for high-speed stability and allow
through more feedback to the driver.
The steering wheel takes a little time
to familiarise with but quickly turns
into second nature with some time
