Taking It to the Streets of
The seventh edition of the popular Iron Hill Twilight Criterium in downtown West Chester
takes place on Saturday, July 9, 2011.
Thousands of spectators are expected to once again line the streets of West Chester to
watch professional cyclists fight for supremacy on the narrow downtown streets. Starting
and finishing in front of title sponsor Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant, at the intersection of Gay
and High streets, the .8-mile course is as challenging for cyclists as it is exciting for onlookers.
While the focus of the afternoon never strays far from the racing, spectators can enjoy the
day’s other activities, including downtown’s endless array of one-of-a-kind shops, boutiques
and restaurants.
Katie Walker, president of the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce, welcomes
Kinetic Physical Therapy, a first-time sponsor of the popular Community Festival. Returning
to its traditional location along High Street, the festival features a business bazaar, food stands
and numerous other activities. With three locations in Chester County, Kinetic is a leader in the
treatment of physical impairments and movement dysfunction.
Children will be excited to know that the Kids’ Zone, a block-long cornucopia of fun activities,
is also back. And children age 3-10 have the chance to discover the fun and excitement of
cycling in the West Chester Dental Arts Kids’ Race.
The Iron Hill Twilight Criterium is presented by the West Chester Cycling Classic, a subsidiary
of the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce. It’s a part of the USA CRITS Championship
Series, a 10-race series in nine cities that will determine the best criterium racers in America.
For more information, go to www.IronHillTwilightCriterium.com or call (610) 696-4046.

Something for Everyone at the Seventh Annual
Iron Hill Twilight Criterium in Downtown West Chester
Thousands of visitors will descend on historic downtown
West Chester on Saturday, July 9, 2011, for this year’s Iron Hill
Twilight Criterium, a day of family fun and cycling excitement.
Now in its seventh year, the criterium features top
professional cyclists from all over the country competing for
supremacy in the USA CRITS racing series. Once again, the
start and finish line are in front of the title sponsor Iron Hill
Brewery & Restaurant, at the intersection of Gay and High
streets. The .8-mile course is as challenging for cyclists as it
is exciting for spectators.
The featured event is the Pro Men’s Criterium at 7:45 p.m.,
when professional cyclists battle it out for 60 laps. Immediately
preceding the men’s event is the Pro and Elite Women’s
Criterium at 6:45 p.m. The Amateur Men’s Criterium starts
the day’s racing action at 5:45 p.m.
Lucky spectators who enter this year’s mountain bike
giveaway will be winners, too, when they hear their names
called throughout the day. Complementing the racing
excitement is an array of family-friendly activities happening
throughout downtown. Besides the many one-of-a-kind shops,
boutiques and restaurants for which the town is known, many
special race-day events will be returning.
With its business bazaar, food stands and numerous
other attractions, the Kinetic Physical Therapy Community
Festival is back at its traditional location along High Street,
between Market and Gay streets. Now with three locations
in Chester County, Kinetic is the area’s leader in the treatment
W6
of physical impairments and movement dysfunction.
The Market Street Block Party, between Church and
Darlington streets, offers an enticing slate of family-friendly
activities, including face painting, pavement drawing, great
food and plenty of live music. Children will be especially
excited to learn that the Kids’ Zone, a block-long cornucopia
of fun activities, is also back.
New this year: the Grand Sport Auto Cool Zone, where
visitors can escape the July sun, relax in the shade and enjoy
the refreshing misters.
Racing action kicks off with the West Chester Dental Arts
Kids’ Race at 5 p.m. It’s free and open to all children age 3-10,
who pedal their two- or three-wheel bikes and Big Wheels
toward the finish line as family and friends cheer them on.
After the excitement of the Iron Hill Twilight Criterium,
cyclists will no doubt want to join the West Chester Cycling
Club for its post-race cycling outing on Sunday, which includes
a broad selection of tours for various abilities and interests
through the picturesque Chester County countryside.
The Iron Hill Twilight Criterium is presented by the West
Chester Cycling Classic, a subsidiary of the Greater West
Chester Chamber of Commerce, and is a part of the USA CRITS
Championship Series, a 10-race series in nine cities that will
determine the best criterium racers in America.

opportunity to give back to the community I’ve been part
of for such a long time.”

mountain bike giveaway. Kinetic is also the sponsor of the

Iron Hill Brewery
& Restaurant
If you’re planning to take in the
Twilight Criterium on Saturday, July 9,
there’s no better place than Iron Hill
Brewery & Restaurant, located on the
corner of High and Gay streets in downtown West Chester. The brewery, which
founded the event and has sponsored it every year since its inception in 2005,
pulls out all the stops for the race, offering a closed-circuit broadcast live from
the race course, along with a curbside “beer garden,” where spectators can
cheer on the competitors as they race by at speeds of up to 40 miles per hour.
“On a beautiful summer say, nothing beats live sports and a cold beer,”
says head brewer Larry Horwitz. “We look forward to the race all year, and
I can’t wait for our guests to join us again in 2011.”
Brewed on-site and available icy-cold throughout the race, draft beers
include Iron Hill Raspberry Wheat, a refreshing choice for a sultry July evening,
and Vienna Red Lager, crisp, bright and perfect for enjoying with Iron Hill’s fish
soft tacos (with cornmeal-fried catfish, golden pineapple chutney, red cabbagejalapeño slaw and cilantro aioli) or Asian lettuce wraps (with teriyaki chicken,
sesame noodles, bean sprouts, cucumbers, carrots, spicy peanut sauce and
sesame-soy sauce). During breaks in the on-course action, guests can observe
the brewery through large plate-glass windows or indulge in a pesto
chicken and artichoke pizza with caramelized onions, mild garlic-chile oil,
pecorino Romano and mozzarella or Blue Cheese Burger with truffled
mushroom duxelle and Gorgonzola. Horwitz is sure to have special seasonal
beers available, and guests who want to keep the party going after the Crit
can pick up an Iron Hill bottled reserve beer like Cannibal, a Belgian strong
ale named for Eddy Merckx (known in the cycling world as “the Cannibal”), or
Afternoon Delight, a full-bodied porter steeped with locally roasted Nicaraguan
and Sumatran coffee beans.

title sponsor of the Community Festival at the
Seventh Annual Iron Hill Twilight Criterium on
July 9. The event fits right into the mission and
vision of Kinetic and its core values, including
high-quality patient care, exceptional customer
service and a commitment to enhancing the
communities they serve.
The Chamber of Commerce of Greater West
Chester has similar views regarding community
involvement and customer satisfaction.
That made this partnership easy to establish.
Kinetic Physical Therapy strives to be
the provider of choice in Chester County
for physical rehabilitation and movement
dysfunction. The company is the dream of three
friends who wanted to open a practice where
people can get well in an environment that’s
relaxed and conducive to healing.
Kinetic believes in treating the entire person—
mind and body—with a focus on getting patients
well and keeping them well for a lifetime. Thanks
to the support of the residents of Chester County,
the company has expanded from one location to
three, including Chester Springs, West Chester
and Downingtown. They’ve built a wonderful
staff of highly educated professionals with many
years of experience. Furthermore, the owners
wanted to build a business they could be proud
of. They’re all residents of Chester County and
raising families there, so Kinetic’s love of
community is truly from the heart.
Please take some time to join Kinetic at the
Community Festival. It will feature many products
