Presidents Message, October 2015
Summer just won’t let go:
It’s Déjà vu, all over again
Last month, as I was writing my President’s message, at 6:00 a.m., it was 84 on my front porch, with a high of 100 for the
day. This month, on a lazy, hot afternoon, it is 100 degrees on my front porch as I am writing this message. To quote the
recently departed baseball legend Yogi Berra: It’s Déjà vu, all over again! Will fall ever arrive?
Where has this year gone? It seems to me that we were just getting started on 2015, and now 2016 is right around the
corner. We do have more activities with our Club and our cars for the rest of this year. We still have two more meetings
this year, to include the all- important election for Club Officers in November. We have the Open House on November 8,
and our Christmas Party on December 12.
Don’t miss out; get the most from your membership with participation in what our club has to offer.
Our 3rd Annual Summer BBQ was a huge success! The weather was hot, but with the oak tree shaded patio at Deer Park,
all of us in attendance enjoyed the BBQ, the fun and fellowship, the cars, and the Deer Park museum and grounds.
Our big fall event is our Open House at Kearny Pearson Ford, on Sunday, November 8. We will be featured on KUSI news
with Dave Stall on Friday, the 6th, at 6:00 a.m. Sign-up with Dave Durrill for these events. This is also the kick off for our
annual Toys for Tots Charity drive. Please bring an unwrapped toy and brighten a deserving child’s life.
The annual CTSD election for Board Members will be at the November meeting on Sunday the 22nd. Now is the time to
submit your name for a Board Member position, or to volunteer to serve as a Committee Chair. Our club does not run
itself; without club members becoming involved in club operations, we will not have a club. Please consider running for a
Board position. It is a rewarding and eye opening experience, and one I highly recommend.
We will have a Board Meeting at KP Ford, prior to the regular October meeting. All members are invited to attend; if you
are considering becoming involved on the Board,
please attend the Board Meeting and see for yourself how our Club operates. See you there!
And, don’t forget our Grand Finale for 2015; our Annual Christmas Party on Saturday, December 12. The party will be at
94th Aero Squadron again this year. This is a perfect location; centrally located, easy to get to, and we have the huge
parking lot for a group photo opportunity with all the members and our cars.
Don’t miss out; get your RSVP’s in early.
Planning is well underway for the 2016 CTCI Convention here in San Diego. We are in need of a volunteers from our
Chapter to serve on the various committees in the planning and for the many tasks during the convention. We have a rare
opportunity with the Convention right here in San Diego. Don’t miss out; register for the Convention, and sign up to help
out with the planning and during the convention. It will be a fun and rewarding experience for all who participate.
I want to thank all the members who have participated and supported our club during this year, with participation and
attendance at the meetings and various events. It is my goal to have 100% renewal for 2016. You’re Board of Directors,
Membership Chairs, volunteers, and most of all, the membership have all worked hard to make this an extraordinary year,
