Go For The Gold - Juanita Rebels Booster Club
Welcome to Juanita Rebels Booster Club 12 Annual Auction th “Go For The Gold” Saturday March 1st 2014, 5:30pm NILE SHRINE GOLF CENTER 6601 244th St. SW Mountlake Terrace, WA 98043 WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW Registration: Now that you have signed in and picked up your packet, pull out your bidding number and keep it with you. Your bidding number will be your “charge card” for this event. Each person issued a bid number (bidder) assumes all risk and hazard related to the auction and items obtained at the auction. Each bidder agrees to hold harmless from any liability arising there from Juanita High Booster Club, its elected and appointed officials, members, and employees, the auctioneer, the event sponsors, and/or volunteers connected with the auction. Quick Pay: Please let us swipe your credit card at the start of the evening. At the end of the auction you simply gather your items and are free to leave. This will avoid a long check out line. Your credit card information will be protected and we will send you your paid invoice either via email or Postal Service a week or two following the auction. Bidding: Your bid for Silent Auction items will be written, and for Live Auction items will be acknowledged by our auctioneer, either way your bid is a contract to purchase. JRBC reserves the right to add or withdraw, without notice, items to or from the auction. We have done our best to describe and catalog all items correctly, but all items are offered as-is, where-is. JRBC neither warrants nor represents, and in no event shall be responsible for the correctness of descriptions, genuineness, authorship, provenance, or condition of the items. No statement made in this catalog or made orally at the auction or elsewhere shall be deemed such a warranty, representation or assumption of liability. The values listed are estimates only and are not warranted for tax purposes or fair market value. Unless otherwise noted, all goods, services or certificates must be claimed and used within one year of the auction date. All sales are final, and no exchanges or refunds are allowed. If you have any questions please ask prior to placing your bid. Silent Auction: Items offered in the Silent Auction have bid sheets next to them. You may bid by legibly writing your bidding number on the form opposite the amount you want to bid on the sheet. A guaranteed purchase price will be posted at the bottom of the sheet. A bid of that amount guarantees that item for the buyer and ends the bidding, for that item, at that time. When the Silent Auction table closes, no more bids will be accepted. The highest bid will be circled and that bidder will have won the item. Your bid is a contract to purchase. Live Auction: When bidding begins hold up your bidding number toward the auctioneer. The auction will continue until all items are sold. Item Pick Up: Choose the Quick Pay option to avoid long lines. At the conclusion of the Live Auction our Quick Pay guests may pick up their items and depart. If you did not participate in Quick Pay you must wait in line and pay for your items prior to picking them up. When gathering your silent auction items be sure to take the yellow copy of the bid sheet that is on the table with your item. All items must be removed from the venue tonight. Check Out: To avoid waiting in long lines be sure to choose the Quick Pay option. The bank will open about 9:30pm. Please give our volunteers enough time to do the proper data entry. Items that are jointly purchased by two or more parties, the winning bid number is the designated payee. Please make your own arrangements for reimbursements by co-purchasers. Tax Deductions: Juanita Rebels Booster Club is registered as a 501(C)(3) tax exempt charitable organization so your payments are tax deductible as charitable contributions as allowed by law. Please consult your tax advisor. Matching Funds: Your employer may match some of your contributions. Generally all Fund-A-Need donations and any amount over the estimated retail value of your purchase are eligible. The process is simple, just check with your Human Resources department to obtain a matching gift application - or many companies have online matching gift capabilities. Complete the employee’s portion and send it to school marked JRBC - we will take care of the rest. “Gold Medal” Raffle Only 50 tickets will be sold and they are $25 each. The Prize One lucky person will win the “Live Auction Item” of their choice. *Live auction items containing alcohol are excluded from Raffle per Washington State Law. One lucky person will win the Grand Prize $100.00 Gift Card to The Purple Café. It’s fun and easy. The auctioneer will guide us through the process. All you do is put your hands on your head, or your tail. The auctioneer will flip a coin. If it is heads and your hands are on your head you stay standing. If your hands are on your tail you sit down. Repeat until there is only one person standing! Wine Toss Take your chances to win a bottle of wine. For just $5.00 you can toss a ring and if it lands on the bottle neck you win that bottle of wine. There is no limit to how many times you can try or how many bottles you can win. The mix of wine includes many different labels and varieties. Value of the wine ranges from $7.00 - $47.00. Per Washington State Law wine won at an auction can not be consumed at the event. We will tag your wine with your bid number for you to pick up at the end of the evening. Step right up and see if you walk away a winner! Fund-A-Team This is your chance to raise your paddle and all proceeds will go directly to the sport or performing arts group you designated on your registration. If you would like to make a contribution of a different amount, or if you would like to make a contribution to a different sport or performing arts group please visit the wish list wall. Double your donation by asking your employers if they offer a matching funds program. Wish List Wall Visit the wish list wall and our student volunteers will be happy to assist you any donation amount is gratefully accepted! You can donate toward a specific item, part of an item, or simply donate a specific dollar amount. A new item added to the wish list wall this year is funding for some new picnic tables at JHS. With the bond measure not passing now more than ever we are going to have to support improvements at the school. Estimated cost is about $900.00 each. Last year at this event we were able to raise money for three AED’s and we still need funding for one additional life saving device. Estimated cost is about $1,500.00. Schedule for the Evening Auctioneer Team Troy McVicker Scott Branston Schedule of Events 5:30pm Doors Open 6:30pm Red Silent Auction Closes 6:40pm White Silent Auction Closes 6:50pm Blue Silent Auction Closes 7:00 Dinner service will begin Welcome, Live Auction Begins Where does your money go? This is the only fundraising activity for the Booster Club. This unique event allows our member clubs to raise money as well. The donor designates the club they support, the purchaser designates the club they support, and the proceeds are split. 30% of the selling price goes to each of these designated clubs and 40% goes to the Booster Club. The Booster club uses this money for operating expenses, support for the school and equipment, support for sports fees, college scholarships, and so much more. How do you measure the value of a students experience when they participate in a Sport or Performing Art? What life skills and lessons do they learn while being part of a group or team? What opportunities will have the biggest impact on who these students will become? The outcome of your donations tonight will be … immeasurable! Next time you visit a business that has donated to our event be sure to thank them! Let them know we appreciate their support and they will know we support their business too. It takes an incredible team of volunteers to put on an event like this. Thank you to everyone who procured an item, thank you to Wendy Gildersleeve for coordinating the reservations and table assignments, Brenda Jensen coordinated the desserts, Cindy Topinka for coordinating our student volunteers, Debbie Nelson handled decorations, and a special thanks to Mary Farley who has been our procurement chair. A job well done everyone! The biggest thanks and recognition tonight goes to YOU. All of the planning and preparation that goes into an event like this would mean absolutely nothing without your attendance. You are the ones who make this event a success. Whether you sign your number on a silent auction form or raise your paddle in the live auction, your contributions are appreciated. I hope you have a memorable evening! We meet the 2nd Monday of the month at 7:00pm in the JHS Library. Everyone is welcome to attend our meetings. Membership is free. Buy tickets now or bid on item #132 The “Heart” of Juanita Automated External Defibrillators (AED’s) Save Lives Did you know…One high school aged athlete suffers a Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) every three days in the U.S! The leading cause of death in young athletes on the playing field is an undetected heart condition. Each year in the U.S., dozens of high school athletes die during practices and games. According to a new study in the Journal of Sports Medicine, it was found that heart conditions, heat and other non-traumatic causes of death are twice as common as injury-related ones. Sudden Cardiac Arrest is one of the leading causes of death in the U.S. Over 350,000 people will suffer from SCA this year. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere and at “ANY” age. According to the Mid-America Heart Institute, 5,000-7,000 children and adolescence die from Sudden Cardiac Arrest in the US annually. An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is the only effective treatment for restoring a regular heart rhythm during Sudden Cardiac Arrest and is an easy to operate tool for someone with no medical background. The average response rate for first responders, once 911 is called, is 8-12 minutes! For each minute defibrillation is delayed, the chance of survival is reduced by approximately 10%! According to the American Heart Association, as many as 50% of SCA victims have no prior indication of heart disease- their first symptom is a cardiac arrest! DID YOU KNOW… Juanita, a 4 year high school, until last year only had one AED located in the Field- House? Now we have one that travels with the trainer and two in the building. We are looking to fund one more to be kept in the press box for easy access to the football field during PE classes and any other activity on the field. Rapid response is critical for survival! How you can help? Please consider helping us purchase additional AED’s by donating funds tonight at the Wish List Wall. We want to ensure our trainers, coaches, teaching staff and community have immediate access to lifesaving AED’s. Please consider helping us get this message out to our community by sharing this information with your family, friends, and business associates.
