At the Bloomingdale Park District, our goal is to provide a fun and safe envirionment where your child can excel and build confidence. All Park District
gymnastics coaching staff have been gymnasts themselves and enjoy coaching all ages, levels and teams. Gymnastics Supervisor Jo Peterson
has overseen the program for 30+ years! There are second generation participants as well as coaches that were once a part of the program as
youngsters.
General Information
• Gymnastics coaches reserve the right to place gymnasts into the class best-suited to their abilities. If the gymnastics coach feels your child has been
placed in the wrong class, he or she will notify you of the necessary change.
• If your gymnast missed more than one session, they MUST be tested in order to re-enter the same level class.
• To schedule a skill evaluation, email Miss Dawn at [email protected].
• Gymnastics and tumbling team parents must attend a Score 6 class prior to their child’s participation in gymnastics.
• Attire:
o Girls – Leotard or unitard. Please no leotards with shirts (safety issue). Hair tied up.
o Boys – Shorts and T-shirt/tank top. No baggy clothes or jeans allowed!
• With your child’s best interest in mind, parents are asked not to attend their child’s class unless invited by the instructor. We have found the quality
of instruction is often affected by parent and/or sibling distractions and/or interruptions. It is of equal importance that the children have quality
leisure time with their peers. Our instructors welcome the opportunity to discuss concerns with parents before or after class, time permitting.
Thank you for your cooperation.

The
Park Bench NEWS
a publication of the Bloomingdale Park District
Autumn 2016
Greetings,
8th Annual 50
Men Who Cook
As is customary, I hope to bring you up to date on the District and its progress. In
our last issue I told you about the renovation of Tompkins Park and how it would
recall Bloomingdale’s agricultural history. It gives me great pleasure to report that
the opening ceremony was very well attended and the park has been received
enthusiastically by all.
The guests included Charles Franzen, who is pictured on a historical information
board at the tender age of 3 and is a lifelong resident of Bloomingdale; the family
of Harold Tompkins, the park’s namesake and former District 13 superintendent;
Buzz Puccio
and members of the Bloomingdale Historical Society, without whose assistance the
accuracy of the information boards would not have been possible. Please stop by the park and let us
know what you think.
Next in line for a renovation is Circle Park. As I informed you previously, those plans were dramatically
scaled back when the governor suspended payment of a grant we were awarded the year before, taking
away 50% of what was proposed in the original plans.
In other exciting news, the Park District is now the proud owner of a beautiful, new 14-passenger
accessible bus for use in transporting seniors, summer campers and more to various locations. It will also
be used whenever possible for all other programs requiring transport and will save rental costs previously
incurred. This vehicle features seat restraints and fold-down child seats at every position in addition to a
wheel chair lift and was acquired through a lease-to-purchase agreement in order to fit it into our budget.
I am sure you’ll see it at various times and places throughout the community.
If you’ll recall, in my last message, I attempted to impress upon you the impact the state budget impasse
is having on us as well as all of your local units of government. As this goes to press, Bloomingdale Park
District’s tax rate (0.4225) is ranked 24th of 32 DuPage County park districts. In comparison with similarlysized districts, Roselle is 9th (0.5897) and West Chicago is 17th (0.5054).
The full list is available on our website. How we do so much for so little is a testament to our administrative
staff, whose budget is trimmed with more skill than a world class butcher. In turn, our supervisors oversee
a group of dedicated employees that make sure all of our stakeholders receive the attention and care they
expect. Your satisfaction and enjoyment is their motivation. Visit us to see the fruit of their efforts. Have
fun!
Sincerely yours,
Sebastian “Buzz” Puccio

organization which has been continuously programming since 1887.
Members are juried in, and include graphic artists, art critics, painters,
printmakers, sculptors, photographers and art educators. Over the
past 129 years, members have contributed greatly to the cultural
enhancement of the greater Chicago area. CSA member works are
displayed nationally and internationally, and continue to enhance the
