LETTER FROM OUR PRESIDENT AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Dear Friends,
We are happy to report that 2014 was a pivotal year for Aspiritech as we paved new roads to providing meaningful
employment suited to the strengths of people on the autism spectrum. Most importantly, we were able to train and
then add new staff on the autism spectrum to our team. Aspiritech’s software test engineers successfully worked with
13 different companies and tripled Aspiritech’s client revenue over 2013! Moreover, we branched out into a new
service area--hardware testing.
Much of this was due to the hard work and achievements of our talented team of software test engineers headed up
by Moshe Weitzberg, PhD, and Brian Tozzo, test lead, assisted by autism specialist Marc Lazar. Their work was
supported by our dedicated board of directors and growing number of stakeholders. We would like to highlight a few
of our achievements in 2014:
 To accommodate a growing staff and workload, we moved into expanded office space in April 2014.
 To date, we have successfully worked for 35 companies, several of which entrusted us with their entire quality
assurance needs.
 100% of surveyed 2014 clients would recommend Aspiritech’s services.
 Thanks to the support of our donors, we provided free training in software testing to nine more individuals on
the autism spectrum, enabling them to be hired at Aspiritech.
 We employed 24 software test engineers; 23 of whom are on the autism spectrum. One other person on the
autism spectrum is employed as our Social Media Manager.
 Thanks to donor support, we responded to 100% of the people who turned to us for help. We provided more
than 240 people with individualized resource and referral information.
 Aspiritech was recognized as a model employment program and featured at the “Employing Adults on the
Autism Spectrum: A Conference on Pioneering Small Business Models Summit” in North Carolina.
 Our Stepping Up & Out program, graciously funded by the Grandy Foundation, continued to help our staff
members and others on the autism spectrum develop critical soft employment skills and enhance their selfesteem and self-confidence through social skills-building classes and activities, experiential education/team
building, and health and fitness activities.
 Grants from the Healthcare Foundation of Highland Park, Fred J. Brunner Foundation, Helen Brach
Foundation, 100 Women Who Care-North Suburban Chapter along with individual donor support enabled us
to continue to employ autism specialists and expand our training and job coaching program.
Thanks to the seeds planted in 2014, we anticipate accelerated growth in 2015. Business contracts are budgeted to
double yet again which will enable us to both provide more work hours to our current staff members with autism as
well as accept additional trainees off our ever-expanding waitlist.
Aspiritech proves each and every day that, given the right structure and support, and most importantly, the right type
of work, we can transform the vocational experience for many on the autism spectrum. We have proven that adults on
the autism spectrum have very important business-critical skills to offer to our economy.
Thank you for your critical support of our mission.
Sincerely,
Beverly Shapiro

“I really have enjoyed the Stepping Up and Out program
so far. I was able to learn a few things concerning
teamwork and effective communication, and I became
better acquainted with my co-workers. The museum trips
and the excursion to the Botanical Gardens were my
favorite parts.”
In 2014, Aspiritech provided 50 Stepping Up & Out activities including lectures, outings, parties, museum trips;
team building, fitness and improvisation workshops plus three volunteer opportunities in the community.

“For me, the real value of the Stepping Up & Out program is that it provides a space that is outside of my comfort zone,
but it still feels safe to be in. It reminds me that it's okay to break the routine, and I need those reminders to keep from
feeling stuck. And, it's great to socialize with a wide variety of autistic people--it helps me understand autism, and myself
better.”
