Polo at a Glance
IPC - Two games yesterday in the Joe Barry, wins for Enigma and Palm Beach
Illus./Technogym.
In the first hame, Enigma took the option of running a huge tab on Coca-Cola
in the first half. Says Carlucho Arellano: “We knew and experienced the great
second half of Coca-Cola so our plan was to run a big score in the first and then stay
focused in the second half. Julio Arellano (5) and Steve Krueger started to convert
penalties in the fourth and early fifth, so we focused on disciplined with a no foul
policy.” It worked, Enigma was up 11-3 in the first half, and did survive the return
of Coca-Cola.
Coca-Cola did mount a come back in the fourth to eventually get to within four,
10-14 mid-fifth chukker, but Jerome Wirth scored two goals to close the fifth 16-10
for Enigma, Enigma the winner 17-12.
In the afternoon game, Palm Beach Illus./Technogym took a 6-3 lead on La Indiana and never looked back. JP Ganon was really active in the fifth chukker, Palm
Beach Illus./Technogym defending very well with young players Facundo Obregon,
Jesse Bray and Jared Zenni, but probably the goal of the match to end the fifth was
scored by Michael Bickford for La Indiana winning the ball in his 70 yards, running
the length of the boards and angling back to goal, eventually cutting the ball 60
yards wide at deep angle for goal and 6-10.
Palm Beach Illus./Technogym continued playing well in the sixth Nacho Badiola
with a strong chukker, Palm Beach Illus./Technogym the winner 12-6
