Korean Class
Consulting
There are 14 MFSC offices in Gangwon province that
provide support for marriage immigrants and their
families living in Korea.
It provides Korean language class, consultation,
translation & interpretation services. You can also get a
‘Life Guide Book’ with detailed information for your
life in Korea in many languages.
It also supports the language development of
children, and special education for the gifted. Various
programs such as computer, confectionery, barista, etc.
are available as well.
Some offices run visiting Korean classes, dispatching
Korean teachers to muticultural households.

4. Korea Immigration & Integration
Programs (Ministry of Justice) Korean Class
KIIP provides basic quality education program
(Korean language, economy, society, laws, etc.) for
immigrants to support their integration into Korean
society.
Completing KIIP, benefit from various incentives;
Exempt written & interview test of KINAT
(Korea Immigration and Naturalization Aptitude Test)
Applying for Permanent Residence Visa(F-5),
exempt the proof of Korean language proficiency
When long-term residents change their visa status,
exempt the proof of Korean language proficiency
Course hours are as below and the class level will be
assigned after pre-test.

Interpretation
If foreigners encounter communication problems
whenever and wherever in Korea, in Korean, they just

Health Insurance Plan. Paying monthly NHI
contribution, they can enjoy the benefits the NHI Plan.

2. When you are sick (Hospitals)
Types of care providers
Hospitals and clinics are devided into 3 levels in
accordance with their size and scope of treatment;
primary, secondary and tertiary institutions.
In principal, patients have to be diagnosed
before visiting second/tertiary institution, and
the cost gets higher in upper levels.
In Korea, SDP(Separation of Dispensing and
Prescription) is practiced. Therefore, you have
to bring doctor's prescription to a pharmacy.
Hospitals don't sell medicine in Korea.
In emergency, call 119 and the ambulance
will take you to a nearby hospital.
119 in Gangwon has volunteers providing language
assistance in English, Japanese, Chinese, Russian, etc.
In case of minor illness, it is advised to use the Public
Health Center which will charge moderate costs.
There are 18 Public Health Centers in the cities and
counties in Gangwon.
Pharmacies close on Sundays!
On Sundays, Seollal(Lunar New Year's Day),
Chuseok(Korean Thanksgiving), most pharmacies close
and only duty pharmacies open.

3. Waste Disposal
To protect the environment by recycling and
minimizing waste, 'Measured Rate System' is
implemented in Korea. Fines will be imposed when
violating this rule.
Standard plastic waste bags differ in each
region(city/county) and cannot be used in other regions.
In some regions, flammable waste and nonflammable
waste have to be separated.
General Waste
You can purchase standard plastic waste bags in the
local supermarkets and convenience stores. And the
waste should be discharged at the designated spots after
sunset.
Food Waste
Food waste should be disposed of using standard food
waste plastic bag or food waste disposal containers.
Usually, in apartment complexes, food waste is put in
the standard food plastic waste bag and disposed at the

food waste collecting container in the complex, and food
waste disposal containers are used in individual houses.
Recycling
Paper, metal, glass, plastic, and clothes are collected
separately for recycling.
Oversize Waste
To dispose of furniture, electrical appliances(TV,
regrigerater, etc.), you should report to the local
government offices and pay fees. Then attach the receipt
to the disposed item and the waste will be collected by
the office.

Opening a bank account
You need your passport or Alien Registation
Card to open an account.
Chinese nationals must have an Alien Registration Card.

You can use the railway system between Seoul and
Gangwon.
Subway (Gyeongchun line : Chuncheon St. ~
Sangbong St.)
For subway running Chuncheon~Seoul, you can use
a Transportation Card or Single-trip Card(deposit
500 won).
You can purchase a Transportation Card at subway
stations or convenience stores. The deposit 500
won for Single-trip Card can be refunded at a
transportation card vending machine.

There are 2 types of services Intercity buses and Express
buses. Express buses operate for relatively longer routes(There
are more Intercity bus outes in Gangwon province).
There are 2 types of Intercity buses; nonstop and
stopping-over.

the Intercity Terminal or the Express Terminal.
