has been a nonprofit, community based health
care agency dedicated to providing expert
physical, emotional and spiritual support
to patients and families through the stages
of serious illness. Agrace HospiceCare is

hospice services provided in patients’ homes.

Toys and Gifts
Agrace HospiceCare patient Doris Klubertanz,
who died in 1994, believed in the power of teddy
bears to bring warmth, love and smiles to people
of all ages–and because of that she left a gift to
Agrace HospiceCare to establish the Dori Bear
program. The “Dori Bears” are given to patients
and/or family members in need of a bear hug.
“Dori Bear” donations must be new teddy bears
with original tags, at least 10” tall. Both holiday
and non-holiday themed bears are welcome.

Bell Run/Walk on Saturday, December

Backyard Mosaic
Women’s Project
The Backyard Mosaic Women’s Project is a safe
and sober place for women to recreate their lives
as they return to their families and communities
from incarceration. Women learn new skills,
work with their hands in the garden and create
mosaics and weavings. They have an opportunity to give back to the community through
public art projects.

Holiday Volunteers
Volunteers are needed for the Adopt-a-Family
program to provide holiday gifts and groceries for
families of kids with cancer. Holiday party volunteers
are also needed to help the party committee prepare
food, wrap gifts before the party and help set up, run
and clean up after the party in mid-December.

Holiday Volunteers
Volunteers are needed to help at robotics
scrimmages and competitions, work as mentors/
coaches for robotic teams, help to improve
our website and promotional material for
programs, activities and summer camp offerings,
clean and reimage classroom laptops. A group
of volunteers is also needed to help sort and
organize LEGO Mindstoms kits and pieces.

Bayview Townhomes and Community Center is

Madison-Area Urban Ministry

M
adison-area Urban Ministry is an interfaith
non-profit organization that advocates for
social justice and racial equity including
adults returning to Dane County after a period of
incarceration, children impacted by incarceration, and
the homeless population.
Each year, the youth programs hold a Holiday
Celebration that bring together youth, families, and
volunteers from all programs. They have food, crafts,
entertainment, and Soul Santa and Mrs. Claus distribute
gifts to all of the children in attendance. When there are
enough donations of gifts, a gift giveaway is held for the
families in the program, where they are able to come
and “shop” for gifts for their children.
Donations of gifts, books, gifts cards, gift wrap,
and decorations help to serve the community during
the holidays. These resources provided to families

during the holidays. In 2014, M.U.M. received a generous
donation of $400 worth of gift cards. Because of
this donation, each teen who attended the Holiday
Celebration received a gift card to be able to purchase
whatever they wanted. Families unable to attend the
event were also given gifts that were specific to each
youth and were delivered to their homes. Without this
donation, M.U.M. would not have been able to provide
this type of support for youth and families.
The holiday season is very stressful for parents and
everyone deserves to be able to have a happy holiday.
By alleviating some of the holiday stresses, parents are
able to focus on other areas in their lives. The Holiday
Celebration helps to supplement their holiday season
and sometimes is the only way the family gets gifts for
their children.

Holiday Volunteers
Volunteers are needed to help string lights, hang
wreaths, and arrange other decorations in the Adult
Day Center. Spread some holiday cheer by sharing
musical talents with the seniors in the Adult Day
Center and Nutrition Sites. Volunteers who enjoy
singing, doing a presentation on something you love,
reading a story, or performing in any other capacity
are eagerly welcomed to provide entertainment

Group volunteers are needed to decorate their
Food Pantry for the holidays and to help get ready
for the Creating for a Cause: Holiday Art Fair to
be held at the Food Pantry on December 5 and 6.
Volunteers can put up holiday decorations in the
Food Pantry in mid-to-late November; Clean the
Food Pantry after it closes on Friday December 4,
1-3; Help the artists unload and set up on Friday
December 4, 3-6 or Saturday December 5, 8-10;
Prepare the Food Pantry on Sunday December
6, 4:15-6:15 to re-open for clients the next
morning; Remove the holiday decorations in the
Food Pantry, late December or early January.
Spread holiday cheer by helping with their
Sharing Christmas Program where donors
provide Christmas gifts to families in need.
An additional Sharing Christmas Committee
volunteer is needed to help coordinate the
donor/client match process to ensure that
matches are made in a timely manner. For more

30) is designed to connect sponsors with families
