The T3i Software Suite will operate as outlined in the T3i User Guide on the Motorola ES400 PDA except for the following operations: Power On/Off operation. Connection of USB cable. Installation of T3i Operate software. Data entry. Updates to troubleshooting. 1.2 Conventions The following conventions are used throughout this document. Table 1 Conventions Convention Screen outputs Description This font is used to display information as it appears on the screen. Screen displays This typeface is used to indicate the commands to be typed in. [Key] [Key] refers to an actual key that must be pressed. For example the Enter key would be indicated as [ Enter] or [Return]. Termatrac T3i Suite Installation Guide. Termatrac T3i Suite User Guide. © 2011 Termatrac Pty Ltd Prerequisities 2 9 Prerequisities 2.1 T3i Software Suite The ES400 PDA is a full screen VGA device. As such, it must only be loaded with the following version of the T3iS software: Version 2.11 level software or later. Failure to use the above version may cause program operational errors in T3i Operate. © 2011 Termatrac Pty Ltd 10 3 PDA Supplement ES400 Power Operations 3.1 Power On The Motorola ES400 PDA has a dedicated Power button to turn the PDA on and off. This can be seen in Power Button Location . Figure 1 Power Button Location 10 To power on the ES400 PDA, press and release the Power button shown in Power Button Location 10 . The PDA will display the Microsoft ® start up screen. 3.2 Power Off To power off the ES400 PDA, press and release the Power button again as shown in Power Button Location 10 . The PDA screen go blank and the PDA will enter a sleep mode. 3.3 Charge PDA The PDA is charged using the USB cable provided. When the USB cable is connected to a PC, the PDA will trickle charge it's batteries. For fast charging, connect the AC mains adaptor to the USB cable. The USB cable connection is shown in USB Cable Connection 11 diagram. © 2011 Termatrac Pty Ltd Power Operations 11 Figure 2 USB Cable Connection The AC mains adapter and cable are shown in the AC Mains Connection 12 diagram. © 2011 Termatrac Pty Ltd 12 PDA Supplement ES400 Figure 3 AC Mains Connection Use of a USB cigarette lighter connected interface will allow the PDA to be charged from a vehicle. 3.4 Battery Life The battery used by the ES400 PDA has substantial capacity and will not require charging each night. The battery level can be easily seen by the screen icon indicated in Battery icon 13 . © 2011 Termatrac Pty Ltd Power Operations 13 Figure 4 Battery icon When this battery icon reaches the last bar this indicates the battery is getting low and should be recharged. The PDA battery should provide at least 8 hours of continuous use when fully charged. © 2011 Termatrac Pty Ltd 14 4 PDA Supplement ES400 USB Cable The ES400 is connected to a PC using its USB port. The location of this can be seen in USB Cable Connection 11 . A specific USB cable has been included in the T3i Suite for connecting the PDA to the PC. This cable is used to data exchange with the PDA and also charging the battery. © 2011 Termatrac Pty Ltd Installation of T3i Operate 5 15 Installation of T3i Operate The installation of the T3i Operate software will be as outlined in "Termatrac T3i Suite Installation Guide" with one difference. The Termatrac T3i Operate program will be stored in the Device and not the Storage Card. In "Termatrac T3i Suite Installation Guide", the section “Install T3i Operate Software on PDA” for step 8, make sure the Device is selected as shown in Location for T3i Operate 15 . Figure 5 Location for T3i Operate The rest of the installation will be as described in "Termatrac T3i Suite Installation Guide". © 2011 Termatrac Pty Ltd 16 6 PDA Supplement ES400 Running T3i Operate 6.1 Start Using Windows To start T3i Operate using the Windows interface, perform the following operations: 1. In the PDA home screen, press the Windows icon as shown in PDA Home Screen 16 . Figure 6 PDA Home Screen 2. Using gentle stylus pressure on the screen, stroke upwards to reveal more programs icons until the T3i Operate icon can be seen. When the T3i Operate icon is seen, tap it to start the program. 6.2 Use Command Button The PDA has been configured to start the T3i Operate program when the Command button is pressed. This is a setting performed by Termatrac before the T3i Suite is shipped. This configuration associates the T3i Operate program with the Command button. To start T3i Operate, press the Command button twice as you normally double click a mouse button. After a few seconds T3i Operate will start. This allows for the convenient entry of information when new locations or jobs are being created, or scan log details are being stored. The keyboard may also be displayed on the screen by clicking on the Keyboard icon as indicated in Screen Keyboard 20 . Data entry can then be made by pressing the symbols on the screen. Figure 10 Screen Keyboard The numbers and special symbols on the keyboard share the same keys as some of the letters. These can be accessed by pressing the orange Function key button as shown in Keyboard 21 and then pressing the desired Number Key. © 2011 Termatrac Pty Ltd Data Entry 21 Figure 11 Keyboard The Fn Function Key can be pressed twice quickly to keep the keyboard in the alternate character set mode (shown in orange above each key symbol). © 2011 Termatrac Pty Ltd 22 8 PDA Supplement ES400 Trouble Shooting 8.1 Terminate T3i Operate In cases where T3i Operate fails to respond to any screen buttons, it may be terminated using the Windows Operating System. To terminate T3i Operate, perform the following steps: 1. Click on the Microsoft Windows icon as shown in PDA Screen 16 . 2. Using the stylus, scroll the screen up until the Task Manager icon comes into view as shown in Program Icons . 22 Figure 12 Program Icons © 2011 Termatrac Pty Ltd Trouble Shooting 23 3. Click on the Task Manager icon. 4. Highlight the T3i Operate entry from the list now displayed and click on the End Task button. 5. After a few seconds the T3i Operate program will terminate automatically. 6. Click the X button to go back to the PDA Home screen. 8.2 Reset PDA When the PDA is turned off it enters a Sleep mode. The PDA can be forced to restart (similar to a PC cold boot). To restart the PDA perform the following operations: 1. Power up the PDA. 2. Press and holding in the Power button for more than five (5) seconds, and the releasing it. 3. The PDA screen will go blank and then after a few minutes the PDA will begin it cold boot sequence. The PDA will take a few minutes to power up and show the home screen which is shown in PDA Home Screen 16 . © 2011 Termatrac Pty Ltd
