Emporians actively support and participate in a
full calendar of year-round events. We are home
to two national sporting events: The Dirty Kanza
200 cycling race and Glass Blown Open disc golf
tournament. Emporia celebrates these events in a
big way with downtown block parties. Our locals
also enjoy wine and beer tastings, late night
and outdoor shopping events, Oktoberfest, and
plenty to do during the Holidays.

Granada Theatre
Arts & Entertainment
Theatre: Our exquisite Granada Theatre and Emporia Arts Center regularly
host live music, plays, and movies. Emporia State University also regularly
produces plays and musicals, and its ZOIKS group hosts interactive comedy
shows.
Art: Emporia Arts Centers features rotating exhibits in the gallery as well as a gift
store and art classes. The Eppink Art Gallery on the ESU campus features faculty
and student work year round. Local businesses Java Cat and Mulready’s Pub also
display student and visiting artist’s work on a rotating basis.
Music: Summer in Emporia is alive with free
outdoor music! Enjoy municipal band
concerts on Thursdays, and brown
bag lunch concerts in the library
courtyard. Sit and play a tune
outside during the week-long
“Pianos on the Pavement”
installation downtown.

nearby lakes and wildlife areas provide opportunities for fishing
and hunting deer, turkey, and quail.
