General Description
CONSTRUCTION FORMATS
Craig & Derricott has been manufacturing die-cast enclosed
switchgear since 1944. In the Trent range we have incorporated all
of that experience in producing an outstanding product that
has become the standard benchmark against which all others
are compared.
Two purpose designed enclosures cover the complete
range. This includes lid and base mounting versions of the
disconnector interiors.

Padlocking
All versions allow the fitting of a
padlock in the ‘Off’ position.
Form 2 construction allows the use of a
single padlock, whilst Forms 1 & 3 will
accept up to three individual locks.
It is recommended that padlocking
devices with a minimum hasp diameter
of 6.4mm are used. This will limit the
movement of the handle away from the
‘Off’ position.
Form 2 can accommodate padlocking
in both the ‘Off’ & ‘On’ positions.

Auxiliary Contacts
The ‘EB’ addition to the catalogue
numbers denotes the inclusion of 2 off
early break contacts.
In all cases these are factory fitted to
the isolator interior, and are not
available as a customer addition.
All auxiliary contacts are fully rated and
are designed to open before the main
contacts when switching ‘Off’.
By definition the contacts would be
late make when switching ‘On’.

Flush Mounting enclosures (25A-63A)
General Description
Craig and Derricott have been manufacturing flush mounting
isolators for more than 60 years, and in that time the design has
evolved to give the features the installers and end users really need.
The assembly consists of a galvanised back box (c/w knockouts) and
stainless steel fascia plate which carries the isolating switch and
locking handle. The fascia plate comes in an attractive brushed finish,
resisting the fingerprint effect often associated with highly
polished surfaces.
Equally at home in kitchens, laboratories, food processing areas,
hospitals and many other areas, this is an elegant, low projection
isolation device.

Security
The fixing screws that secure the lid to
the back box are supplied with allen
key heads to give a degree of security.
Fixings with a higher degree of security
can be supplied to order.
TRENT
Installation
Whilst the joint between the isolating switch
and the stainless steel fascia plate is factory
sealed to IP65 min, when installed, the fascia
to mounting surface seal is the responsibility
of the installer.
A continuous bead of moisture resistant
mastic is a simple way of providing a seal,
and can improve the appearance of the final
assembly on an uneven surface.

RANGE
To maintain the sealing overall, an efficient
bond must be made using some form of
gasketing medium. This is particularly vital on
tiled surfaces where grout lines can channel
moisture down the wall.

Polycarbonate enclosures (25A-63A)
General Description
CONSTRUCTION FORMATS
Switchgear housed in polycarbonate enclosures provides the end
user with several advantages; the most important is the flexibility to
position cable entries and mountings in locations that best suit the
specific site conditions.
Add to this the advantages of chemical resistance,
safe against UV attack, impact resistance, wide operating
temperature band etc., and the polycarbonate option
becomes the starting point for most industrial applications.
Craig and Derricott IP65 sealing as standard
on all assemblies.

General Description
The Trent range of enclosed switchgear
has been designed to meet today’s
vigorous market requirements for
products that are simple to install and
connect, and meet international
standards of performance and safety.
Switch disconnectors are available in
three forms - finished Red or Grey in
sheet steel, and a stainless option. All
three versions are offered in the same
sized cases per rating.
Sealing to IP65 is standard throughout
the range, including the fuse
combination units.

here, but there are several other

isolators are a necessity in today’s world. It may be for
protection against arduous environmental conditions,
resistance against chemical contamination, constant cleaning
when under strict hygiene regulations, and many more.
Whatever the reason, there will be a specific item to suit your

Along with excellent material specification, all items offer a
minimum of IP65 protection to ensure protection against
dust and liquids under pressure.

All versions allow the fitting of a
padlock in the ‘Off’ position.
Form 2L construction allows the use of
a single padlock, whilst Form 1L will
accept up to four individual locks.
It is recommended that padlocking
devices with a minimum hasp diameter
of 6.4mm are used. This will limit the
movement of the handle away from the
‘Off’ position.
Form 2 can accommodate padlocking
in both the ‘Off’ & ‘On’ positions.

Auxiliary Contacts
The ‘EB’ addition to the catalogue
numbers denotes the inclusion of 2 off
early break contacts.
In all cases these are factory fitted to
the isolator interior, and are not

are designed to open before the main
contacts when switching ‘Off’.
By definition the contacts would be

the years, but none could be so striking as the ‘Round’ stainless
steel enclosure.

TRENT
The need for local isolation for maintenance and safety, is as important in
Zoned areas as anywhere else. However when considering such an installation,
the equipment installed must be fully certified for use within such areas.
The Craig & Derricott ‘ATEX S’ range is fully certified for use in Zones 21 & 22
(Category 2D). The scope covers equipment rated at 50A - 630A,
all housed in sheet steel enclosures finished ‘Red’.
All items have the following features :• All interior load break switches have visible contact confirmation.
• Side operating handles lockable in the ‘Off’ position by inserting
up to three individual padlocks.
• Enclosures constructed from galvanised steel and
finished with a Red (RAL 3020) epoxy polyester finish.
• Removable gland plate on bottom face.

Craig & Derricott has been manufacturing enclosed switchgear for more
than 50 years. In the Trent range we have incorporated all of that
experience in producing an outstanding product that has now been
approved for use in explosive dust atmospheres.
TRENT
Two purpose designed die-cast enclosures are used to cover the 25A & 32A
items, whilst the 63A items are supplied in a quality sheet steel enclosure.
All items have a minimum ingress protection of IP65. The following table
lists two popular formats that will fulfil most applications, however, if you

Craig & Derricott has been producing switch
disconnectors for more than 30 years. Combining our
switching expertise with the specific requirements of
the ventilation industry, led to the development of our
‘High Temperature Isolation’ range. Excellent switching
characteristics with high temperature environment
contact stability makes this the ideal product range.
The critical role these switches perform is to maintain
the power to vital equipment such as ventilation fans,
allowing safe evacuation of a business or public area.
Often, these devices are mounted local to the extraction
fans and, as an assembly, it is essential they comply with
the stringent thermal requirements of BS EN 12101 - 2003.

Specification
Within BS EN 12101-3 :2002 (Smoke and heat control systems.) which is the specification for powered
smoke and heat exhaust ventilators, there are several classes of duty. These define specifically the
temperature gradient and upper limit for the test as well as the time period over which the test will last.
Within the range of this equipment are the following classes:F200 200OC for 120 minutes
F300 300OC for 60 minutes
The specification calls for dynamic tests designed to check the performance of complete ventilation
assemblies. The associated isolator is required to maintain the essential supply throughout the duration of
the test. To ensure the capability of this equipment Craig & Derricott test laboratory has taken the
temperature and time limits up to 300OC for 5 hours successfully on selected items.

General Description
Craig & Derricott has been manufacturing die-cast enclosed switchgear
for more than 60 years. In the Classic range we have incorporated all of
that experience and produced a range of traditional isolator assemblies.
A purpose designed enclosure is used to cover the complete range,
which includes lid mounted items in the 40A range and multipole base
mounting items in the 20A. Added to these are the ‘Flagged’ items
which are designed to provide that extra degree of visual assurance.
With locking handle options and sealing throughout to IP65, the
‘Classic’ range of die-cast isolators is the choice for quality and reliability.

‘ F l a g ’ Switch Disconnectors
The design of the ‘Flag’ isolator option gives added
conformation to the switch condition.
The flag, which is directly driven off the switch shaft,
is visable through a window in the enclosure lid.
A green ‘Off’ flag is visible when the isolator is open
and a red ‘On’ flag, when closed.
The photograph to the right shows clearly that
Craig & Derricott are always prepared to offer the
user a purpose designed and finished products to
meet specific applications.

Specification
The Stenton range of switch disconnectors is designed to meet today’s vigorous market requirements for a
product that is simple, and hence cost effective, to install and meets internationally accepted standards for
performance and safety.
To provide the installer with the maximum of choice when designing his installation, the interior switch
disconnectors are supplied separately from the moulded housings. Add this sealing to IP66 and the range
becomes a truly universal product.
Each housing is supplied complete with a captive handle assembly and neutral and earth continuity terminals.
