midemlab finalists 2013 Music discovery, Recommendation & Creation Pitch session on Saturday, January 26th, 14:30 – 16:30 – Lerins Hall Featurin.gs (Switzerland) www.featurin.gs Featurings is the first cloud based music/video collaboration platform which allows artists (singers/beatmakers/videomakers) to share & remix their works legally on the basis of creative commons licenses. In order to boost their audience and increase their fans' engagement, artists may organize featurings or remix contests on their Facebook page. Featurings is therefore a useful tool to spot new talents and a powerful social marketing tool which allows artists to build their audience upon the audience of others in a viral way and/or to create their own music videos & share them on social networks. The revenue model is threefold: 1. After a certain level of recognition, artists may monetize their sounds/videos or submit featurings/remix contests to a participation fee. 2. Brands are able to buy advertisement space or to place their products within the music videos available on the platform. 3. Featurin.gs works as a non-exclusive publisher for synchronization licenses. 25% of these revenues flows to Featurin.gs. Featurings: where artists collaborate. For consumers, the problem is discovering new music. When you download Spotify, you suddenly have almost every song you could ever listen to. Yet most people end up listening to the same songs they already know. Soundrop allows everyone to join the music discovery process, both to raise their own credibility and help others discover new music, helping everyone get more value from their Spotify subscription. Fans enjoy Soundrop. More than 360 million tracks have been streamed so far. For labels and artists, they need to increase their digital revenues. Rather than focus on a transaction model, streaming services allow labels and artists to monetize engagement. Soundrop is the perfect tool to create engagement, through branded rooms or unique music experiences that connect artists and their fans. More than 70 artists have already used Soundrop to do just that.
