The only downfall to the mild temperatures and lack of snow was the inability to go snowmobiling or tobogganing with family and friends. This is my last messenger, I’ve enjoyed doing it but have found myself too busy for it. contributed by Sherry Langston Since the last issue the McLean Recreation Association hosted the annual Santa Claus Parade and Craft Sale. It was an awesome day with lots of people out for the parade and the craft sale. Many children came and seen Santa after the parade and had their picture taken with him. Big thanks to Kim Delesoy and Jessica Kozdron for taking care of the picture taking. I happy to announce that Lori Bray-Spanier is taking the helm. Im sure she will do an awesome job :) Our annual general meeting was held on Tuesday, February 2, 2016. The President, Secretary and Treasurer positions were up for nomination. I am extremely proud to announce the new executive: Chris Bailey—President (2 year term) Simone Jennings—Secretary (1 year term) Deandra Ortman—Treasurer (2 year term) Kevin Reynolds—Vice President (1 year remaining in his term) Directors are Glenda Ashdown, Lena Ashdown, Pamela Whyte (1 year remaining in their term). Members at Large: Lori Bray-Spanier and Wanita Puff Sherry Langston Hall Bookings Be sure to book the McLean Community Centre for all of your family or corporate gatherings: Weddings, Anniversaries, Wedding and Baby Showers, Family Reunions, Birthday Celebrations, Meetings. The McLean Messenger and the McLean Hall bookings have new contact persons as well. Lori Bray-Spanier is taking over the McLean Messenger and Lynn Sprayson has already taken over the McLean Hall Bookings. Thank you ladies for volunteering to take over these very important duties. And last but not least there was a large turnout for the movie night on February 20, 2016. Everyone enjoyed “The Minions” Reasonable Rates! Doesn't get better then that! Just a quick update, we have been working hard on getting the water issues resolved. Between cleaning all of the tanks and doing maintenance on the well that has the high manganese counts we are hoping we will have resolves the issues as much as possible. We appreciate your help and patience as we sort it out. Glenn was born in Clareshom, Alberta and passed away in Regina surrounded by family. I chose the above quote for two reasons: Glenn’s family moved to Innisfail, Alberta where he attended school, worked, met and married Shirley and became a father. First, we would love to have someone (or group) sign on to upkeep the flower beds in town. There is one by the McLean sign and one by the event board across from the bar. Most of the plants we put in in the spring are shrubs/perennials so the upkeep is fairly minimal. Just a good weeding every week or two and watering if needed. Please speak with Nadine and Shantell if you would like to help. Predeceased by his parents, Earl and Mattie Bozarth, Glenn is survived by his wife of 60 years, Shirley, his children, Leslie (Raymond), Lynn (Dave) and Billy (Lori). He loved his grandchildren Codi (Shari), Chantel and Jonathan, beloved great-grandchildren Davin, Colin and Layla. He is also survived by one sister Edna and cousins and nephews. Second, the Rec Board is always looking for help and ideas when it come to planning and presenting events. Please, come out and sign up to help our community continue to put on events. Glenn was involved in Seismic crews, working with Dr. Peter Konkin in the cattle embro transplant field and in the agricultural field on ranches, feedlots, auction marts and for 21 years with the Brogden family farm at Kronau, a close relationship that continues to this day. At a young age, Glenn set a record as the youngest outrider at the Calgary Chuck Wagon races. This record has stood for years. Glenn was one of the true cowboys and loved working with horses and cattle. His hard work, dedication and loyalty were a great inspiration to his family. Again I can't thank you enough for your patience with the water.
