RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
The Safariland family of armor solutions offers an array of state-of-the-art packages for unprecedented ballistic, fragmentation and trauma reduction
protection. We maintain one of the most advanced armor-testing laboratories in the nation, allowing for our team of highly trained engineers
to advance our analysis of ballistic properties. Our laboratory tests a variety of products including ballistic, spike, edge, blade, multi-threat and
fragmentation-resistant soft and hard armor. With the advent of the NIJ Standard-0101.06, Safariland has enhanced its laboratory facilities to
include two ranges that test against high-velocity handgun and rifle threats. It also features armor-conditioning equipment and hard armor and
impact and thermal testing equipment.

Deputy Owen Confessore
Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Florida
Deputy Confessore’s department responded to a domestic
disturbance call. Upon arrival, the team learned that the assailant
had already shot his step grandfather and was threatening others.
Deputy Confessore was shot in the center of his chest
with a 12 gauge shotgun. His ABA® Gold vest and
IMPAC HT plate saved his life. Deputy Confessore was able to
return fire and assist in taking the assailant into custody.
At an emotional Safariland Saves Club ceremony in Jacksonville
on July 13, Deputy Confessore personally updated the
Safariland Saves board to reflect his own life-saving incident.

AEROSOL FORMULATIONS
A leading brand among law enforcement agencies, we have expanded our line to encompass the entire range of OC solutions offered by the Defense
Technology® brand. With this change, officers can select a Defense Technology® product from a complete line of OC sprays that will specifically address the
needs at hand.
In combining the range of OC products, our color-banded packaging system allows operators and procurement alike to instantly differentiate between the
intensity level and type of OC required. Offering the classic water based formulation of Defense Technology® and X2, along with the intensity of the oil soluble
OC formulas of LE-10 in two different levels means that the Defense Technology® line can meet and exceed field requirements of any enforcement officer.
The percentages on each canister relate to the percent of Major Capsaicinoid (MC %) in each formulation which is a laboratory proven method of validating
the intensity of OC formulas. We recommend all consumers refer to this measuring system. While the subjective taste test called Scoville Heat Units (SHUs)
has been the industry standard, Safariland® believes using an independent laboratory to confirm the Major Capsaicinoid formula and level is the most
objective and defendable way to ensure the quality and consistent application of OC products, time after time. Few brands have the experience and legacy
that Defense Technology® brings to the market.
.2% WHITE BAND
.2% was created from the classic water
soluble Defense Technology® formula. The
.2% represents the major capsaicinoid level
which is discharged at the nozzle at time of use.

1.3% BLUE BAND
Defense Technology offers the most intense foam
on the market, identified by the blue color band,

of CS to OC which targets the respiratory
