THE DANIEL KELLY SCHOLARSHIP
Daniel Kelly played at Hendersonville High School in 2004 and 2005. During the summer before his junior year,
he was selected to participate in the U.S. U-17 National Team and trained throughout the year in Bradenton, FL.
Daniel graduated a year early from High School and accepted a scholarship to play collegiately at Indiana
University. Daniel had a standout career playing as a defender, midfielder and front runner for the Hoosiers.
After graduating from Indiana, Daniel attended and graduated Optometry School in Memphis. A scholarship was
named in his honor from an anonymous donor. The recipient of The Daniel Kelly Scholarship will be a
student-athlete in good standing, shows an interest in the Health Sciences, gives back to the game of soccer,
demonstrates leadership qualities, and does anything that will improve the team as a “team player”.
2016 is the inaugural year for this award.
THE COLE PARROTT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Cole Parrott was killed in an automobile accident, June 2012. The events surrounding his tragic death changed
lives forever. The creation of The Cole Parrott Memorial Scholarship is an attempt to honor Cole's memory and
to say, in a small way, thank you to the HHS soccer community. Cole began his soccer career at the age of five
(5). Cole was blessed to have been a part of the HHS soccer program for four years and completing that portion
of soccer career as a member of the 2010 State Championship team. The selection of tonight's recipient of the
Cole Parrott Scholarship was based on the personal characteristics of being a “team player”, a leader by example,
respecting authority and traditions, and treating others equally and with dignity. We believe that these
principles were present in Cole's life and were some of the attributes that made him a “difference maker”.
This criteria is applied to each nominee relative to the soccer field, school activities other than athletics and
as a member of the Hendersonville community in general.
The 2015 recipient of this award was Joey Plummer.
THE BRITTANY DANELLE PLUMMER SCHOLARSHIP
March 1991 (Coach’s 4 year), Coach and Denise gave birth to a beautiful daughter, Brittany Danelle. But as
things sometimes happen, complications became apparent. Brittany lived for five weeks before she left us for a
better place, leaving the Plummer’s with memories of what might have been and a feeling of Hendersonville was
home. According to Coach and Ms. Plummer, "the support our family received from the entire Hendersonville
community was amazing and equaled to none. For a community to rally behind someone they knew little of, was
a sign to our family that we had made the right decision when we moved here. We had found ourselves a
home". In wanting to give something back and to show eternal gratitude to everyone here, the Plummer’s
established The Brittany Danelle Plummer Scholarship. The recipient of this award is a Hendersonville High
School Soccer player with good academic standing. Said player is chosen annually by the Plummer’s as someone
who envelops the meaning of fighting in spite of physical anguish through mental fortitude.
The 2015 recipient of this award was Emily Parrott.
th
HENDERSONVILLE HIGH SOCCER SCHOLARSHIPS
It is the aim and the ultimate goal of our program to provide a vehicle for our players to continue their higher
education, to ensure that deserving student/players get the assistance necessary to aid in the process. It is with
this in mind that a scholarship program was established many years ago. This program has grown to five annual
gifts, each awarded to a player that best exemplifies the meaning of what a Hendersonville High School Soccer
player is within the context of the spirit of each scholarship.
THE PATSY VICKORY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Those that knew Ms. Vickory referred to her as the mother of Hendersonville Soccer, for it was her vision and
determination that gave all of Hendersonville Soccer a running start some 25+ years ago. "This soccer thing, will
not last", she was told as she approached school and city directors back in the days with her ideas and proposals
for a soccer program. After having been turned down often, she decided that if this was to be, it was up to
her. And so it began, Ms. Vickory, the first "soccer mom" in our fair city, wearing many hats, including that of
"coach" took the field for the first time, and as they say "the rest is history". The recipient of The Patsy Vickory
Memorial Scholarship must be a Hendersonville High School Soccer player with good academic standing. Said
player must consistently demonstrate the desire to push forth with determination and courage, no matter what's
in front of them. The 2015 recipient of this award was Cassidy Chandler.
THE CAROL STEFEK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
On July 2005, Hendersonville High School Soccer lost a dear friend and supporter. For as many years as most of
us can remember, Carol Stefek fought an aggressive cancer with a determination and perseverance equaled to
none. Ms. Stefek's wish was that before she left us, she would see her daughter, Andrea, graduate from high
school. She lived to see her, not only graduate in 2005, but become an All-American at the sport she so loved. In
2006, The Hendersonville High School Soccer Foundation established The Carol Stefek Memorial Scholarship in
honor of this great friend who by example showed everyone that with pure guts, willpower, resolve and fortitude
anything you set your mind to, can be accomplished. The recipient of this award must be a Hendersonville High
School soccer player with good academic standing. Said player must display throughout his or her four year
career at Hendersonville High School, that no matter what's thrown in front of them, they will achieve personal
goals. The 2015 recipient of this award was Savannah Cowden.
THE VICKIE LYNN WATSON “GO BIG C” SCHOLARSHIP
On June 4, 2013, Hendersonville High School Soccer lost one of its most enthusiastic supporters to cancer, Vickie
Lynn Watson. A Hendersonville alumnae from the Class of ‘73, Vickie began supporting HHS Soccer when her
nephew, Richie Reichenberger, began playing in 2007. Her support continued through nephew Randy Reichenberger’s HHS soccer career, starting in 2011. During games, Vickie always loved yelling, “Go Big C!” to get the
crowd and players riled up. She also showed her support by sending encouraging emails during tournament play.
She always represented the team by proudly wearing her black and gold attire! Vickie was all about the “TEAM:”
team effort, team encouragement, and team support. The recipient of this award is a Hendersonville High
School Soccer player in good academic standing. Said player must display throughout his or her four year career
at Hendersonville High School team effort, encouragement, and support; and love of the game and teammates.
The 2015 recipient of this award was Laura Beth Hunter.
