Training Medical & Paramedical staff as ECMO specialists and teams. To make standard protocols & Guidelines for ECMO. To have common data registry of ECMO cases in India To decrease the cost of disposables of ECMO. More than 54 centres More than 600 cases ECMO Society of India initiative Data reporting needs to improve Ridhivinayak hospital :Mumbai 200 cases done past two years 45% mortality 70% respiratory 30% Cardiac mostly adults aproximately 20 pediatric 1 neonatal PPHN AIIMS Delhi: 300 cases past year 290 cardiac 10 respiratory BLK 5 Pediatrics in past year one cardiac(survival) 4 respiratory(3 survived) KIMS Hyderabad,DMC Hospital Ludhiana,MAX Superspeciality hospitalDelhi,Apollo Chennai…and More ECMO Society of India has central data registry Lot to be desired towards sharing Data Many centers have not reported the detailed data It remains a BIG CHALLENGE FOR SWACELSO registration committee to get all ECMO centers to be members and share and report Data Organized From 2010 onwards Annual or Biannual meetings with workshops Teaching faculty: National and International Participants: Passionate, motivated Drs, perfusionists and Critical care nurses from India and abroad Teams from Iran, Muscat, Abudhabi participated Aim: To cover all corners of the country Training programs and conferences were held at Delhi, Mumbai, Manipal, Calcutta, Hyderabad, Puttaparthi Chennai, Vellore, Kochi Maquet: supporting role 5 to 7 day program Dedicated Interactive Simulation Web based interactions Limited numbers National and International faculty Team Structure: Equipment: Training and on-going training needs Sharing information across the centres Lack of experience while starting new centre Learning curve Financial backing for a treatment with uncertain period Superadded infections Huge geographical distances and lack of transport facilities Bringing the costs down Equipment availability Infection issues Care with Passion and dedication Insurance programs Charities Controlling infection Streamlining training programs Integration Reporting and sharing information ECMO training by Simulation Passion Migration of trained professionals Perfusionists seeing it as a profession to practice Corporates identifying the need Medical community accepting it’s role Formation of SWAC ELSO FIRST SWAC-ELSO conference 2014 India And 5th annual conference of ECMO Society of India www.swacelso.com We made progress Made friendships Platform for collective thinking, mutual exchange of ideas and regional co-operation More member countries need to join Affordability to the less fortunate Much more needs to be done Humble beginnings Every bit of effort was worth it !!
