NCMS Plan Registered Dietitian Network
North Carolina Medical Society Employee Benefit Plan
NCMS Plan Registered Dietitian Network
The NCMS Plan
is committed to improving the health and wellness of its member practices by creating a referral network of dietitians
throughout North Carolina. Nutritional counseling helps employees assess their diet and set realistic personal goals for better eating
habits and a healthier lifestyle. Offering onsite access and educational presentations creates a work environment that supports the
success of employees’ health-related goals.
As a member practice, you can identify and partner with a dietitian that is either employed by an NCMS Plan member practice and/or
with a BCBSNC affiliation to provide 1:1 nutrition counseling. The NCMS Plan covers unlimited nutritional visits, including ongoing dietary
assessments and adjustments, during the benefit plan year. As long as the dietitian is an in-network provider, the session is considered a
preventive screening, covered 100%.

Testimonials:
“As a former athlete, I’d gotten out of shape over the last few
years once I entered the work force, like many of us do. Sonia –
the Lean for Life nutritionist – may not be able to force you to
change your eating habits, but she certainly does make you much
more aware of what you are putting in your body. And no guilt
sessions.” -Ashley
“Sonia from Nutrition in Motion has taught me so much about the
combination of foods and how they interact.” -Kathi
“I joined Lean For Life to reduce the amount of medication I take
for Type 2 Diabetes and high blood pressure. I have accomplished
this and so much more. I have lost weight and a combined total
of 11 inches. Sonia helped me to change my diet and I have
much more energy. I would recommend the Lean For Life Program
to anyone that wants to improve their physical and mental health.”

What do I do for my overall health?
Follow a mediterranean diet focused on minimally processed
foods, and have been trying to include more plant-based meals.
I stay active by walking, playing golf, and strength training. I
believe in the importance of mind and body health for overall
well-being, so I also participate in yoga and pilates classes.
Service areas:
TRIANGLE: Raleigh, Wake Forest, and neighboring counties
Testimonial:
“Diane has been a major part of my massive transformation. Two
years ago, I was sent to a counseling center for depression. I was
depressed, obese, and a totally unhealthy person. I went to a
few sessions, but it just wasn’t the right kind of treatment for me.
I started meeting with Diane, and she understood my needs and
gave me the nutritional counseling and support I needed to believe
in and help myself. It wasn’t easy, but her positive motivation,
suggestions, and nutritional guidance got me through the first few
months. Throughout the time spent working with her, I learned how
to pick the right foods, plan my meals when I have time to eat or
don’t, how to manage my exercise, and the importance of journaling
my success. Since then I have lost a total of 70 lbs, I’m happier than
I’ve been in over 10 years, and I’m still going. I don’t think I would
have been as successful without her. Thank you, Diane!”

Testimonials:
“I came to Essential Nutrition because I wanted to learn how to
manage my diet—in order to achieve weight loss and control
cholesterol. Before I met Kay, I was always starving so I was
always eating. Now, by eating more high soluble fiber foods, I
stay full and don’t experience the sugar highs and lows. I also
learned about Beano; don’t laugh too much here but one
reason I avoided whole grains, beans and legumes was that
couldn’t digest them! I am so far 15 lbs. thinner and tons
happier.”
Linda, Chapel Hill
“Essential Nutrition has been an amazing source of support and
encouragement to me this year. I cannot tell you how very
thankful I am for you.”
Jennifer, Raleigh
“I entered in the 130s today for the first time in years, at least 5-6.
I have been enjoying life, not emotional eating, feeling satisfied
with food, and active. Once I stopped worrying about food and let
myself enjoy food without diet-minded anxiety, I started
dropping weight!”
Katharine, Raleigh
“I am so excited. My cholesterol is down from 269 to 220 and
my weight is down too. My doctor is planning to send you
more patients!”
