OUR THANKS TO OUTGOING OFFICERS,
DIRECTORS AND CHAIRPERSONS
The FCA Southwest Region wishes to
thank our retiring Officers, Directors and
Chairpersons who have contributed their
valuable time and efforts on behalf of our club.
WALTER MEYER - CHAIRMAN
With this election, Walter retires his position as FCA
SW Chairman. His previous
term as President continued to
foster our Club’s strong organizational structure and
encourage driving events.
Walter’s retirement makes
way for incoming Chairman
Doug Prestine.
BRIAN QUADT - MEMBERSHIP CHAIRPERSON
Brian has been our club’s membership chairperson for
several terms. He’s been responsible for keeping tabs and
reporting on new members for
our monthly meetings and
inclusion in the Sempre Ferrari.
Brian has also been diligent
in keeping Ferrari related businesses stocked with Club applications so that Ferrari enthusiasts can learn about additional ways to have fun with their
prancing horses.
Brian continues as a FCA SW Director.
DOUG PRESTINE - PRESIDENT
DEMETRI ZAFIRIS - TREASURER
Demetri is our Club Treasurer who keeps track of our
Club’s accounting. Nearly
every facet of our Club goes
through Demetri’s capable
hands with his collection of
event registrations, paying
vendors and checking in
participants at numerous
Club events during the year.
As many of our long
standing members have done, Demetri chose to not seek
reelection to allow other members to become more
involved. He will thankfully continue as our tireless Club
Treasurer.
MARK PROCESS - SECRETARY
Mark as Secretary has been successful in the recording
of our meetings for the last
two years, not an easy task
given the full attendance of
our monthly meetings and the
full range of activities that are
discussed.
Mark continues as a FCA
SW Director and In Your Area
Chairperson.
Doug’s two year term as our President has offered
substantial organization and
encouragement of our membership to become engaged members. His leadership has guided
our Club with acute dexterity
to keep our group solvent and
progressive through our
changing times.
Doug transitions to be our
new Chairman.
We look forward to each person’s continued
participation with the FCA SW Region as an extremely
engaged member. SF

hunt down an escaped German spy and re-live the hairraising drama as the ship’s gunners ward off a Luftwaffe
air attack! Take time to explore the ship and it’s museums

Its a perfect way for ship aficionados, history buffs, and

Action Packed Day!
Be Prepared
Boarding for our cruise starts at 7:30 AM; guests should arrive early to allow plenty of time
to pass through the security check. Photo ID is required and all bags are subject to search.
Boarding ends and the gangway is raised at 8:30 AM.
A continental breakfast is available upon boarding. At 9:00 we cast off and our fabulous
cruise filled with fun, food, fellowship, and dancing begins. The engine room tours begin after we
leave the breakwater or you can just kick back and enjoy the “Yellow Hound Dawg Blues Band”
but keep a lookout for WWII re-enactors.
During our passage, visit the wheel house, engine room, radio room, browse two great museums and the gift shop. As we cruise past Avalon, enjoy a narration of points of interest along the
shore... You might even see a dolphin or flying fish!
Around mid-day its time for lunch! It is an all you can eat buffet served on deck. It always
receives rave reviews with a wide variety of delicious entrees and salads.
Suddenly there is a commotion topside – the crew has captured a spy! He is paraded around
the deck in irons but not before he has radioed his position.
The general alarm is sounded, the Armed Guard “man” their guns. Out of the blue come the
enemy planes to attack the ship. The Armed Guard answers in kind with their 5" cannon and
20mm guns. When all seems dire, American planes swoop in to save the day. After the dogfight,
the planes then form up to fly the length of the ship.
$130 Per person for a full day including cruise, lunch, on board museum and ship viewing and
WWII reenactments.
The S.S. Lane Victory is a National Historic Landmark and a
fully operational ship. Every year, prior to our cruises, the ship
has a complete Coast Guard inspection.
To make sure your trip is as enjoyable as possible, we
recommend you wear comfortable clothes and come prepared:
• Closed-Toe, Closed heel, Flat, Rubber soled shoes
• Sweater or jacket, Brimmed Hat
• Photo I.D. Required
• Sunscreen
• All Carry-on subject to inspection
• Engine room tours require climbing of ladders.
Boarding for the summer cruises starts at 7:30 AM; guests
should arrive early to allow plenty of time to pass through the
security check. Photo ID is required and all bags are subject to
search. Boarding ends and the gangway is raised at 8:30 AM.
**Due to boarding restrictions, we are unable to accommodate wheelchairs or strollers

HEARST
CASTLE
WEEKEND
DRIVE
FRIDAY - SUNDAY
OCTOBER 2-4, 2009
Join us for what will be one of
our best 2009 FCA driving events!
HISTORY
In 1919 William Randolph Hearst told architect Julia
Morgan: “Miss Morgan, we are tired of camping out in
the open at the ranch in San Simeon and I would
like to build a little something.”
By 1947, Hearst and Morgan had created “La Cuesta
Encantada” - The Enchanted Hill - an estate of 165
rooms, 61 bathrooms and 127 acres of gardens, terraces,
pools and walkways. The Hearst Castle is now a
San Simeon State Historical Monument.
After driving for a few hours, we will stop for lunch
(included in event cost) and continue to our exclusive
hotel along the coast. Upon arrival and after checking in,
we will depart on a sunset ship cruise of Morro Bay.
A light meal will be included on the ship.
On Saturday morning after having breakfast at the
hotel we will drive to Hearst Castle for a guided tour.
We will return to the hotel early afternoon to relax and
or explore the Morro Bay or Cambria area.
A cocktail reception, dinner and who knows what else
will wrap up the evening.
On Sunday morning we will have breakfast at the hotel,
and after that you are free to return home or stay and
enjoy the special events taking place that weekend at
Morro Bay - The “Harbor Festival”.
ACCOMMODATIONS
Accommodations include two nights lodging in King Deluxe Rooms at:
$695.00 per single or
$925.00 per couple.
Rooms will be assigned on a first come first serve basis.
Registration deadline is August 1st, 2009.
This special event is limited to 20 rooms (cars) so sign up SOON!
Additional information will be sent to registrants approximately two
weeks before the event.
