The Saddle Circuit is complete for this year and the standings are now posted. Congratulation to all top place winners. Don’t
forget the Affiliates in Winona Mn. The top ten qualifiers are eligible to go. The list will be posted on the NRHA web site by
October 1st.
Hope everyone who attended the August show enjoyed the Pie Day, if you did not fill your tummies with all the delicious pies
you missed out. A thank you to all who made this event such fun by bringing all the good pies.
Keep the date of January 26, 2014 for the banquet. Will be held again at the Joliet Country Club. Guest speaker will be Dr. Keith
Merritt DVM from Merritt and Assoc. he will be talking about stem cells procedures and research. New for this year’s banquet
will be the saddle drawing from all the Champions in the Open and the Non-Pro. Rookie ll will have their own saddle. Each NonPro and Open winner will have their choice of seat size and color and an upgrade if you so choose to add to the cost of the
saddle. Each saddle will be made after the banquet. So you may want to take a look at Continental’s web site ahead of time to
get an idea which one you want to order. Each champion will receive their normal award and will then pick a name from the
appropriate bucket. The last name in the bucket is the winner of the saddle in that division (Open or Non-Pro). To have your
name in the bucket you need to be at the banquet as owner or rider.
What’s new for 2014 show season is added money to our August shows, and another memorial show at the Munoz facility.
Dates of the shows will be May 3 & 4th at Gordyville, June 7th at Munoz facility, Aug 16 & 17th at Gordyville. Also for next year we
want to put together a team of our top ten riders to make a good turnout at the Affiliate semi-finals. More on that as the season
goes on.
We had problems this year recording the points. Do not blame the point person. They went far beyond their volunteer job to
get this correct. What has happened to delay the posting of the points is all about the membership list. We missed 11 members
who signed up at various shows (such as breeder’s cup & Springfield) and we did not get the notification. This has also happened
at out shows where the membership is paid on the Tab sheet and a membership form was not turned in or misplaced in the
show office. The show office has far too many things to keep track of and a membership that should be paid by the first of the
New Year should not be one of those. Therefore new for 2014 YOUR MEMBERSHIP HAS TO BE PAID BEFORE THE FIRST SHOW.
This will greatly help the point person get the results posted within a reasonable time from the show. Our point person had to
redo the points four times this year alone, all because of memberships not listed on the membership list. So please get these
into us early. We will have a membership reminder posted in every newsletter before the first show. There will be no paying at
the shows. Also by getting these in early you have a record from your check that you have paid instead of cash paid on a tab
sheet at the shows.
New for 2014 will be the RED SHOW NUMBER. You can purchase a red number to put on your saddle pad to show the horse is
For Sale. That way people know to come to you about the horse. The cost for the season will be $10.
Directory Ad’s this year need to be in early. We want to have the directory out in January. Get folks that might want to put in a
business card. We want to make this a GO TO directory for services and products so if fellow members are looking for
something, they can go to the directory. If everyone just could bring in one service or product we can be on our way of making
this directory a useful tool. Contact any board member for help. We will have a break down of cost for ad’s attached in this
newsletter.
The Youth want a Free Style reining. To get this on the show bill for next year we need a youth chairperson to do some kind of a
fund raiser to defer the added cost. We had talked about a used tack sale, but it never got off the ground. If someone out there
is interested in helping the youth please contact our youth adviser Albert Burton.
In July the MWRHA was asked to put on a demonstration to benefit the Therapeutic Riding Program. Want to thank Tawney
Denn & Albert Burton for doing the demonstration along with Susan Laird & Rachel Bomher who did a free style. And also a
thank you to Linda Norman and Ed Gomez for helping out at the booth to promote the MWRHA. See more in the newsletter
about this.
Want to also thank Shannon and Randy Fowler for helping out this year as bit judges. They gave their time and we so did
appreciate that from them.
Also for everyone who stepped up and did the scribing and gate we thank you.

The Munoz family welcomed everyone to their ranch and expressed gratitude for coming to the 1st annual RM Memorial
Show. This show was established by the Raul Munoz family in remembrance of their father.
The $5000.00 added RM memorial 7 and up class saw some tough competition. Winning the open levels 2, 3 and 4 was
Albert Burton riding Something Juice For Norbert Glynn. He marked a 150 1/2 from judges Jesse Westfall and Marlin
Holbreck. Albert received a RM memorial buckle, NRHA Morrison trophy and a paycheck from the Munoz family. Mike
Davis placed 2nd he received a reserve champion memorial buckle, paycheck and 3rd was Jeff Kasten from Wisconsin
receiving a Tinsel Jac monogrammed jacket and a paycheck. The Non-Pro class winners were Jose Vazquez riding Slj Ruf
Like Juice level 4. Larry McCollough riding Whiz Good to Go won the Level 2 and 3. These competitors also received
memorial buckles and Tinsel Jac sponsored jackets and vests and their portion of the $5000.00 added money event.
The MWRHA hosted the ancillary classes of the show. The one day show drew 41 entries in the green classes and 39 in
the rookie.

Davis Trading Company graciously donated a pair of boots to the winner of a boot drawing. The way it worked was for
every entry in a class an exhibitor entered their name was put in a box for the drawing. That lucky winner was Tyler
Widger. Thank you goes to Randy and Linda Davis owners of Davis Western Tradin for their friendship and support of
reining horses.
You can always count on Mark Butzow of Pards western shop for his continued support of the reining horse industry.
This time he donated a bucket of supplies for a basket raffle to help support the show. Mark loaded the bucket full of
grooming supplies, leg boots, halter and more. The winner was a spectator who came to check out the reining action.
I would like to personally thank both Davis Western Tradin Company and Pards Western Shop for helping make this
show special for all that attended and the Munoz family.

July 20, 2013, several Midwest Reining Horse Association members put on a reining demonstration at the WORLD OF
HORSES hosted by the Midwest Renegade Equistrian Drill Team. The event at the McHenry County Fair Grounds
helped Main Stay Therapeutic Riding Center of Richmond Illinois. Gracious MWRHA members handed out brochures
and sold saddle raffle tickets. MWRHA donated some of the proceeds to Main Stay Therapeutic Riding Program.

started off the MWRHA segment with

Rachel Bomher & 19 year old
Newland, and performed a run-in
reining pattern, while demonstrating
the necessities of schooling a horse in
a show-like environment. This was followed by Albert Burton, riding Reminic Rally
owned by Norbert Glynn. Albert kicked it up a notch, showing a flawless pattern as
Kathy Dam walked the crowd through each maneuver and explained what to look
for in the ideal reining horse.
For the finale, Green riders Susan Laird riding Chic Sure Dunit, and Rachel Bomher riding Totally Redun performed a
fast and fun Freestyle routine to The Jane Dear Girls song "Wildflower." Despite only a couple of weeks to put the
routine together, the girls did a fantastic job and showed everyone just how much fun Reining can be! Special thanks
to all involved in this special event donating so much time to help Midwest Renegade’s put on such a unique event!
