Simrit Sealing Solutions
In an industry where cutting costs can never mean cutting
corners, our full line of Simriz® perfluoroelastomer
compounds delivers the ultimate in performance and
value. In fact, it is Simrit’s development of proprietary
materials at our state-of-the-art, 55,000-square-foot
technology center that allows us to supply O-rings and
seals for a wide variety of industry applications. We
control the entire clean-room manufacturing process—
from base polymer through molding—with no outsourcing
or middle men, which cuts cost yet enables us to provide
products that are better than Six Sigma quality.
Simrit is the industrial sealing products division of the
Freudenberg and NOK Group companies, a $12 billion
global company and the world’s largest supplier of
elastomeric seals and custom molded products. As part
of an outstanding worldwide network, Simrit is well
integrated with global manufacturing centers, able to
provide total sealing solutions, field engineering support,
and superior customer service.
What is Simriz®?
Simriz is a family of perfluoroelastomer compounds
developed solely by Simrit and designed to provide
superior chemical resistance and thermal stability. Simriz
possesses the resilience of an elastomer with chemical
resistance approaching that of PTFE.
The appeal and versatility of Simriz is in its universal
chemical resistance. Each Simriz compound has additional
properties to meet specific application requirements.
Simrit’s full range of high-quality standard and customblended Simriz sealing elastomers are manufactured
in our fully accredited clean rooms with ISO/TS 16949
and ISO 9001 certifications. In addition, the Santa Ana,
California, facility also carries the AS 9100 aerospace
certification.
Patented cross-linking system
By selecting the right cross-linking system, we have
optimized the beneficial properties of Simriz. Simriz
materials are cross-linked using peroxide or a patented
cross-linking system. This provides Simriz seals with
excellent chemical resistance ranging from organic
amines and steam to plasma and etch resistance.
Simriz O-rings and molded shapes are available in
many different Simriz compounds. Each compound is
specifically designed to optimize the following criteria
and to meet market specific application needs:
Broad chemical resistance
Mechanical properties (hardness, tensile strength,
elongation, etc.)
Compression set resistance
High-temperature capability
Low-temperature flexibility
The Freudenberg-NOK organization draws from
more than 150 years of experience and offers quality,
well-known brand names including Freudenberg ®,
NOK ®, International Seal ®, Simriz ®, Disogrin ®, and
Merkel ™. Call Simrit today at 1-866-274-6748 to find

Thermal Stability Comparison
Simriz perfluoroelastomers demonstrate a wide
range of temperature stability. Simrit has developed
Simriz 481 for low-temperature flexibility. Typical
perfluoroelastomers available today have excellent
chemical resistance, but they lack flexibility at
temperatures below 0°C. Simriz 481 ensures
low-temperature sealability and chemical resistance
in temperature applications to –20°C.

Simrit Manufacturing
Given the tremendous costs and quality concerns involved
in today’s manufacturing, we are proud to supply your
industry with the most reliable sealing solutions in the
world. Simrit manufacturing is exceptionally lean and
reduces in-process inventory and waste while increasing
quality that already far exceeds industry standards.
By focusing on individual parts versus batch processing,
problems are isolated and corrected without jeopardizing
an entire production run. Moreover, we continually push
to exceed our Six Sigma certification, using state-of-the-art
automated vision systems to detect flaws imperceptible
to the human eye. In fact, Simrit manufacturing provides
better than Six Sigma quality. The purity of our seals is
paramount, as evidenced by our dedicated clean-room
manufacturing and packaging facility in LaGrange,
Georgia. Our manufacturing edge carries over to our
Santa Ana, California, facility where many of Simrit’s
materials are expertly molded.

Simrit quality certificates include: AS9100, EN9100,
ISO/TS 16949, Nadcap, A2LA Laboratory, Qualifas
EASE, and many customer-specific approvals. Simrit
materials meet and exceed AMS, MIL, AS, NAS, NFL,
and NSA specifications.

Simrit Seal Design and Testing
Material compounding and manufacturing quality are
both critical to a seal’s ultimate performance. The third
contributing factor is the original part design. Simrit looks
beyond the individual component to consider the entire
system including mating surfaces, operating environment,
and media to be sealed. Our Finite Element Analysis
(FEA) simulates the environmental
conditions each seal will experience
in actual operation. For example,
FEA allows us to design parts with
computer modeling to simulate
stress levels within the system and
optimize the design for maximum
life. This modeling lowers cost,
speeds the development process,
and provides a more robust part.

Simrit also employs a variety of methods to test actual
parts to ensure that the predicted performance matches
the results seen in the real world.
Product testing includes:
Physical properties (tensile, elongation, modulus,
compression set, etc.)
Fluid compatibility
Air aging
Temperature
Pressures
Static/dynamic testing
Durability testing
Fire tests
Environmental conditioning
