President’s Message
Dear friends,
August always seems to go on forever until one morning you wake up and poof,
it’s September; kids going back to school and the first hints of fall slipping in on
a breeze.
Speaking of breezes, I had a great time this summer taking sailing lessons from
John Davidson who runs the sailing club. John taught me the basic skills of
tacking and jibing and the importance of timing when changing course, but the
most important thing he taught me about sailing, is that it’s a sport I can enjoy
for a lifetime. And that’s exactly what I intend to do.
Back on land, the CLCC women’s volleyball team captured another 1st place
championship, overcoming the powerful Estling team on their own turf. Way to
go…congratulations to the team!
The CLCC Ladies Auxiliary has really been active this summer, throwing cold
treat gatherings on the playground at dusk and family friendly happy hours at
the clubhouse. Their next event will be the CLCC annual Boat Regatta and
“Dessert on the dock” being held on September 7th. Use your imagination and
come dressed for fun. Prizes for best boat in class will be awarded.
The end of summer CLCC family BBQ formerly known as “The Pig Roast” will be
held on September 12th and is being re-branded as “Septemberfest”. This
year the event is being catered by The Denville Meat Shop. The menu will feature pulled pork, BBQ chicken and lots of delicious sides and salads. Advance
ticket sales only, so make your reservations now if you want to be a part of
Cedar Lake history. And don’t forget to bring your best tug-o-war footwear as
the eastside tries to hold on to its bragging rights for another year.
Attention golfers and duffers! The CLCC is holding its annual golf outing at Mine
Brook Country Club on September 26th. In addition to being a lot of fun, this
event is an important fundraiser for the club which uses the money to maintain
the building and grounds safety and overall aesthetics. So, if you’d like to play
or if you have a business and would like to sponsor a hole, please contact any of
the CLCC board members for information. This event is for men and women.
Prizes will be awarded.
Finally, I want to acknowledge and thank Ailsa Clarke who is, after many years
of service, stepping down from her role in producing and editing “The Blurb”.
Ailsa is transitioning this “job” to our newest board member Joe Cappetta.
Thanks for stepping up Joe!
Well that’s all for now. I hope everyone has enjoyed the summer as much as I
did. Have a great Labor Day, be safe and have fun.

SAVE THE DATE!
CLPO Annual Meeting
Friday, September 18, 2015 at 8 PM.
CLCC Clubhouse
Your vote counts!
Stockholders are urged to send in their signed proxy even if they plan to attend the meeting. A proxy can be withdrawn at any time prior to the ballot count.
There are five positions open on the CLPO Board for a three-year term. Stockholders running are:
Chris Aughey
Chuck Femminella*
Beth McNichol*
Adam Gibbons*
Scott Meade*
Incumbent*
In addition there are two proposals before the stockholders—

a vote for a $25.00 increase in the Share of Expense (from $450 to $475)

a By-Law Amendment change in Article II Section 3 to change from the Directors regular
meetings from the third Friday of the month to an unspecified meeting day each month.
These proposals require 51% of stockholders’ affirmative votes in order to pass.
The Board recommends a “For” vote for the two proposals.
Your annual meeting packet and proxy card have been mailed.
Stockholders are encouraged to attend the Annual Meeting in order to take an active part in
the management of your lake and have your voices heard. Please return your signed proxy
even if you plan to attend the meeting. As required by the By-Laws, the CLPO must have
at least half of the stockholders plus 1, present or voting by proxy in order for the
meeting to be legal. Your proxy counts toward the quorum.
CLPO Update …...continued……...
There will be no lifeguards on duty September 2, 3, or 4. Lifeguards will be on duty for
the Labor Day weekend. The beaches will remain open but swimming is at your own risk.
Work will begin to prepare the waterfront for winter, which includes removal of the swim
lane lines, ladders, floats and turn boards.
The dam project is winding down as construction is completed at the site, meeting the
NJDEP requirements. Electrical work as well as installation of the irrigation system will be
completed in order for landscaping to take place later this Fall at the East Beach. New
signage for the East Beach is also being planned and designed to complete the project.
The CLPO Board wishes to thank all its stockholders for their cooperation and patience
during this time.
Please be aware that several burglaries have taken place on the West side over the past
several weeks. An arrest has been made, but residents should be vigilant to strangers in
the area and reminded to lock their doors and cars.
APPEAL UPDATE
The CLPO will resume its appeal to the Denville Board of Adjustment on September 16
concerning the building permits issued for the renovation and reconstruction work being
conducted at 30 Cedar Lake West. The Board adjourned the meeting to resume the appeal process on September 16. While continuing with the appeal, the CLPO also continues to be in discussions exploring potential options for a resolution of this dispute. Board members along with CLPO attorneys from Dolan and Dolan are making
every effort to resolve this issue in a manner that best serves all CLPO stockholders.
It has been reported that bonfires are being set in the woods behind a stretch of Cedar
Lake East. The latest incident involved burning plastic, smashing glass and leaving the
area littered with garbage. Not only is this a potential for fire to nearby homes and a hazard for hikers but also destruction of town property. Please notify the police department
if you observe any activity in the area.

HUB LAKES TEAMS
The Cedar Lake ladies beat Estling Lake in a 3-1 match to win
the Hub Lakes volleyball championship. The finals match team
consisted of Sarah "the foot" Vanderhoof, Cori "the one armed
bandit" Eggert, Jolyn "perfectly pink" Veres, Kati "shot maker"
Eggert, Lauren "big guns" Jackson and Carrine "ball-hog"
Mackey.
In addition to these six women we wouldn't have gotten to the
finals without the rest of the great team. Including Vanessa
"best hands in hub-lakes" Pulice, Julia " I'll play for ice cream
"Strothers, Lynn "serving queen" Eggert, Tiana "get me off the
court" Ulversoy, Ayla "cameo appearance" Miller, Catie "don't
make me set" Duphiney, Sydney "first timer" Kroeter, and Lea
" serving from the baseline" Mackey.
We had a fun season with only one loss, setting up finals to be
a grudge match to the only team who bested us. It resulted in
an action packed game full of great defense and long rallies.
Lastly..our team could not be complete without the cheers of
the best fans in hub lakes. CEEE-DAR LAKE.

(348).
They were followed by Indian Lake (351), Rainbow (356), White Meadow (370), Estling
(374) and Arrowhead (384).
Lexi and Maya
Kevin Carroll of Rock Ridge scored the low round of the day with a 74 after a matching
