Swaps can be arranged online through DutyMan (there is a link on the club website and also on the duty notification emails) or directly using the telephone contact information shown in DutyMan once you have logged in. Those members without internet access will be provided with duty notifications through the post. Duties are an important and enjoyable part of being a club member, helping the Club run efficiently. A record will be kept of Members not carrying out their duties or making alternative arrangements; this will be consulted when allocating club facilities for the following season. OFFICER OF THE DAY - OOD PJ DRIVER - PJD AND PJ CREW - PJC Collect keys (see key holders in programme), arrive at least 90 minutes before the start of the first race and unlock the premises. The OOD has overall charge of the sailing activities. In consultation with the Sailing Secretary (Racing), Flag Captain, Sailing Committee members and/or experienced sailors, the OOD decides whether or not to race, has responsibility for setting and overseeing the laying of an appropriate course and directing the patrol boat cover. PJ Driver needs to check tides and arrange that PJ is off the mooring for racing. Liaise with OOD. Put PJ back on mooring at end of racing. PJ Crew assists OOD & AOD as required. Those on duty Please report any faults found with PJ and Radio to Chris Joyner. ASSISTANT OFFICER OF THE DAY - AOD Arrive at least 90 minutes before first race and report to OOD who will allocate duties according to experience and capability. This will normally involve assisting with running the racing afloat or ashore. When 2 RIBs are in service the OOD may require AODs to act as additional RIB crews and appropriate kit should be brought in case. BEACH Arrive at least 60 minutes before the first race and report to OOD. This is a shore based duty covering general club security, observing sailing activities in or close to the harbour, introducing visitors to club officials, maintaining radio contact and responding to OOD’s instructions. RESULTS Collect racing results and enter boats, crews and times into the racing computer. Display one People allocated duties must read the guide on the LRSC web site or the printed copy in the clubhouse. RIB DRIVER - RD Arrive at least 90 minutes before the first race and report to OOD. Brief crew, check white board in boat store for info on the RIBs, prepare boats and be ready to go to sea in advance of the race to set marks, report conditions, etc. All personnel aboard RIBs must wear personal buoyancy. Record faults on whiteboard when packing up. Please let Chris Joyner know of any faults with Ribs or radios. See guide on LRSC Ltd Web site. RIB CREW - RC Arrive at least 90 minutes before the first race and report to OOD. All personnel aboard RIBs must wear personal buoyancy. The duty list will normally contain one person selected as being capable of crewing a RIB in all conditions. LR_Sailing_program_2014.indd 2-3 SAFETY SUMMARY OF CLUB REQUIREMENTS NOTE - The club undertakes to provide patrol boat cover on days when racing takes place, but this will be limited to the duration of racing activities for those participating. Members sailing at other times or not participating in racing should assume that club patrol boat cover will not be available. All under 18s must wear personal buoyancy when afloat and engaged in LRSC Ltd activities. (Continued on page) 8.
