According to Inc. magazine, “Corporate culture refers to the shared values, attitudes, standards, and beliefs that characterize members of an organization and define its nature. It is so critical that a company’s success or failure may be predicated on how well it practices these core values.” In a great company’s culture, employees trust leaders, have a sense of pride in their work, and enjoy their colleagues. The culture serves the strategy. Since 1979, Hedrick Brothers Construction has believed that culture is the most powerful factor in an organization. Our foundation principles were established and have remained unchanged: be relational, maintain the highest level of integrity, deliver quality construction, and keep our commitment as strong at the end of the project as it is at the beginning. Our team is dedicated to preserving these core values and work ethic that define the environment of Hedrick Brothers Construction. It can be defined as “the collective way we do things around here.” Here are a few ways in which our culture is going strong: Growth The Inc. magazine tagline is, “The Magazine for Growing Companies“ — quite appropriate for the growth experienced by Hedrick Brothers Construction in the past years. As the leader, our team is counting on me to make smart decisions from financial to whom we do business with and even doing something because it is the right thing to do — these decisions directly affect all of us. We have grown both in talented employees and in jobs. I encourage you to read about many of our projects on the following pages and the teams bringing them to fruition. Raising Our Game We are always challenging each other to “do better” and take it to another level. Here are a few examples: • Building more construction teams for consistency in market sector projects. • Mentoring: Our next generation is in the office and at the job sites watching, observing and learning. • Continually integrating technology into our daily work including the use of Virtual Design & Construction services and Procore construction management systems. These cost-effective systems improve our processes even more and increase efficiencies, ultimately benefiting our clients. Community Our company and employees continue to “give back” whether it is through donations of time and talent, in-kind, monetary contributions, or materials. It has been a busy season! Hedrick Brothers Construction is underwriting the construction of a new home through a donation to support Habitat for Humanity of Palm Beach County’s affordable housing effort in memory of my father Charles, who was a long-time volunteer with the organization. Even better, one of our team members, Noe Gonzalez, and his family had applied to the Habitat program. When the Habitat staff realized he worked at Hedrick Brothers, they thought it would be perfect to use our gift to underwrite his new home! Our amazing employees will also be volunteering hours to assist in the building. Fun We recently hosted the HB Family Fun Day for employees and their families. It was humbling to see the direct effect that this company has on the lives of so many people, and it is a perfect example of our culture. The impact this company has on hundreds of lives in our community — from constructing buildings they work, live and play in, to volunteering and providing employment — is inspirational for all of us to do even more and strive harder to preserve this culture that we have created. Dale R. Hedrick - Founder & President The “Hammer Team” took first place in the construction relay race. Captain Yolanda Donado, Shani Wyant, Mike Kilgen & Noe Gonzalez.
