EDITO
Dear Participant,
First of all, welcome to the Danone Social Innovation Lab 2010.
Over the last four years, the Social Innovation Lab has been highly
successful, allowing teams from different CBUs to share best practices with
both business and social impact, and explore new possibilities, working
alongside organizations (NGOs, experts, public institutions…).
A special welcome to our guests from partner organisations who have made
the effort to come to Paris, many of them from far. Their role and
contribution to the “co-creation” process is central to social innovation.
Today in 2010, a large number of successful and impactful projects have
been developed within the Group. Whether in Health, Base of the Pyramid,
People or Nature, several initiatives have proved their potential.
It may be time to look back and learn from such best practices. The diversity
of projects is a real opportunity for us to understand better our ecosystem
and carry out more easily impactful projects. Learning from our experiences
will be a great booster for scaling-up the projects.
For that reason our 2010 Social Innovation Lab will be entirely devoted to
the theme of “Learning for scaling-up” our initiatives. What are the projects
to learn from? How to address the challenges of scaling-up?
We really hope that you will enjoy this event and we would like to wish you
a great experience.

Michel Griffon
Currently Vice-President of the French Research Agency,
Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the French Fund
for Global Environment (FFEM).
Michel Griffon is a well known agronomist. His personal
work is very much focused on agriculture, food security
and ecological resources. Among various books he has
published: "Feed the Planet: toward a double green
revolution" and also "Toward ecologically intensive
agricultures" (in French).
Ganesh Devy
A former professor of literature, G.N. Devy is an activist
for the cultural and human rights of the nomadic
communities and the Adivasi of India. He is the founder of
the Adivasi Academy in Tejgadh (Gujarat), a very original
approach to empower rural communities mixing culture,
education, microfinance, seed banks, etc.
More recently, Ganesh launched the concept of Green
Zone Belt.

and some of our workshops.
Here is a great opportunity to share our projects with
committed people.
Outside the venue, you could also visit our SIL-TV: a dedicated
place for networking and interviews. In this "one-line factory",
we will produce and share videos with Danoners and even a
larger public thanks to Down to Earth & danone.communities
blogs.
Interested by social media: don't hesitate to visit the team and
participate to roundtables!
RFI, main francophone international radio will install
its studio in L’Usine on Tuesday 6th and broadcast
“C’est pas du vent” special talk show.
For Danoners, a community Social Innovation has been
created in the New Who’s Who. Come and share your
experience with other passionate Danoners.

L’Usine
A special place
The place, built in 1862, was initially used by Emile
Justin Menier as an establishment centralizing his
pharmaceutical activities.
The buildings were restored, however they kept
their original floors, windows and metallical
structures. Thus l’Usine is charaterized by a strange
and unique atmosphere, confered by those vestiges
of History.
Nowadays, l’Usine organizes important events. But thanks to this
economic activity l’Usine contributes to social inclusion. Indeed, it
gives a chance to people who are excluded from the labour
market, such as disabled people, isolated parents or unqualified
persons. It permits to reinsert people who have some difficulties
to find a job. The diversity of the jobs offered (commercial
functions, products delivery…) can fit to each profile.
