Volume 1
Welcome to the 2014 - 2015 school year! We would especially like to extend a warm welcome to those new to our
district, and our new Freshmen class. As a WRHS Hornet, there are many exciting activities and events in store
for you. Enclosed you will find helpful information concerning the start of the upcoming school year, starting
with Hornet Tip-off scheduled for August 20th & 21st. We hope you have enjoyed a fun and relaxing summer
break and we look forward to seeing you at Hornet Tip-off.
First Day of School - Tuesday, September 2, 2014
Freshmen First Day 7:35 - 2:05
Sophomores, Juniors & Seniors 11:00 - 2:05
(There will be a 2nd bus run on this day.)
In order to assist in the positive transition for our incoming Freshmen class, we have modified our schedule and
have designed a series of activities to help our new ninth graders have a great start to the school year!
Buses will pick up at the regular time for ninth graders. From 7:35 to 10:30, students will participate in an assembly, meet their teachers and learn about some of the traditions and expectations for success at White River High
School.
A second bus run will take place in order to transport our upperclassmen to campus for an 11:00 start to the

We look forward to meeting our new students and are excited about the start to a great 2014-2015 school year!

Important Information about Class of 2015 Senior Yearbook Photos
Perler Photography has been selected as our official yearbook photographer (the single mug shot that will appear in the
2015 senior section). Your senior portraits may be purchased from Perler or the photography studio of your choosing.
The following options are available for your yearbook photo:
1. Hornet Tip Off photo: If you do not seek to have a different picture, the photograph taken on the day of Hornet
Tip Off will be used for your yearbook picture.
2. One-day on campus photo session: Perler will conduct a one-day on campus photo session for senior pictures
later in the fall. The pictures are provided at no cost to the student. The photo session does not offer a choice of
photos or a choice of position poses.
3. Perler or other photography studios: Although Perler has been selected as the official yearbook senior photo
(mug) photographer for consistency and uniformity, you are not restricted from using other photography studios. If
you choose to use a photographer other than Perler, the following requirements must be met:
Photo must be submitted in digital format on CD (jpg or tif). Typical senior headshot only - shoulders and head (2.13”
x 2.6” @ 300dpi). No full body shots, and no hats.
The deadline for submitting senior photographs for
publication in the 2015 yearbook is Friday, November 7, 2014.
(This is the final date and no exceptions will be made.)

School Attendance Policies
Good attendance is of the greatest importance for a student’s academic and occupational success. White River High School policy and state law requires attendance every day while school is in session. Illness, family emergencies, court appearances, religious holidays, and school sponsored projects are the only excusable reasons for non-attendance. For every absence, the
parent/guardian must phone or send a written note of clearance within 48 hours to the attendance office that includes: student’s
full name, date(s) of absence(s), reason for absence, and a signature of the parent/guardian. If the parent/guardian does not phone
or send a written note of clearance within 48 hours, the student’s absence is considered unexcused.
