Careers@Singapore Engineering Services - with a focus on Electronics June 2015 HOT JOBS Scroll down to see the highlights of all the Career Opportunities. Or visit our job portal at contactsingapore.sg/jobs Be a Part in Singapore’s Vibrant Electronics Sector! The Internet of Things (IoT) is increasing the connectivity between people and things on a scale that was previously never seen before. Today, the number of smart devices has far exceeded the world’s population. This rise in IoT has perpetuated a need for electronic products to be able to communicate well with one another, to use power more efficiently and to be able to sense the external environment. To ride this wave of IoT and to capture the growth of the semiconductor industry, Singapore’s semiconductor companies have focused on the manufacture of specialty integrated circuits (ICs) used in the latest electronic products. Four 12-inch Wafer Plants Singapore aims to be a global hub for the semiconductor industry by 2020. Singapore is home to four 12-inch fabs and nine of the world’s top 15 fabless semiconductor companies. GlobalFoundries, Micron, Systems on Silicon Manufacturing (SSMC) and United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) are some global leaders who have established their presence in Singapore. United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) With more than a decade long presence in Singapore, Fab12i – a 300mm fab - is a powerhouse in Singapore. This second-generation 300mm facility is also in volume production, with capacity at 45,000 wafers per month. With the focus on specialty ICs, companies such as UMC have invested S$140 million to establish a Centre of Excellence for advanced specialty process technologies such as RFCMOS and embedded Flash in Fab 12i. The Centre of Excellence will undertake R&D collaborations with local research institutes such as A*STAR’s Institute of Microelectronics. UMC’s advanced automation, mature defect density, competitive cycle times along with a customer-driven capacity expansion plan enables UMC to be the foundry of choice for customers' manufacturing needs. For more information about UMC, please visit www.umc.com. Buoyed by the demand for specialty ICs due to the wave of the Internet of Things (IOT), mobile communications, smart secure cards and connected vehicles, SSMC continues to focus on increasing its footprint in these niche capabilities, such as specialty ICs, to support the growth of the aforementioned areas. SSMC provides a broad technology portfolio of CMOS and BiCMOS-derived options to support HPMS (high performance mixed signal), MR ABCD (automotive and analog, BCD, CMOS sensor, display driver), high voltage, super high speed RF, embedded Flash and sensors technologies. All these technologies are needed to drive this wave of IoT, and SSMC will continue to manufacture ICs used in these exciting applications for today and many more generations to come. For more information about SSMC, please visit www.ssmc.com.sg. Located in the heart of Asia, Singapore is the perfect location to understand Asian consumers. In response to how the global market is growing, Singapore is the right place for R&D and innovation of cutting-edge technology and developing solutions that are relevant to Asian region and beyond. To support this growth momentum, check out the companies that are hiring and be a part of this exciting sector in Singapore!
