Ed Fisher’s TJ Is Rock Royalty

d Fisher of Hyde Park, Utah, purchased his brand-new ’06
TJ Unlimited from the dealer’s lot and drove directly to
Mount Logan Off-Road for immediate expert modification.
Ed wanted the Jeep to excel off-road yet still be driveable on
the street. The guys at Mount Logan rolled up their sleeves
and went to work, completely stripping the new Wrangler.
Check out the photos to see what they did to make Ed’s TJ
Unlimited rule in the rocks.

Mount Logan built the trussed rear Ford 9inch using a Currie housing center. The housings are trimmed and plated on the bottom
for better ground clearance. Ford Explorer
disc brakes have an integrated drum e-brake.
The rear Yukon aluminum third member also
houses 5.38 Sierra gears and an ARB Air
Locker. The 4340 chromoly Yukon axleshafts
will probably hold up, even with Ed’s lack of
throttle control. The aluminum Mount Logan
upper and lower control arms feature Currie Johnny Joints. Upper control arms are
triangulated, so no track bar is needed.
Tom Wood’s Custom Drive Shafts built both
front and rear CV driveshafts. Rubicon Express 4-inch coils, Sway-A-Way 2.0 reservoir shocks, and a Currie Antirock sway bar
control the rear of the Unlimited.
Sway-A-Way 2.0 coilovers up front have QA1
coil springs and allowed Mount Logan to dial
in the suspension perfectly. The Currie Antirock sway bar works both off- and on-road.
Jounce bumpstops from Light Racing make
the ride more comfortable at speed.

A brand-new 5.3L GM Gen III V8, computer,
and wiring harness from Turn Key Engine
Supply were installed. A K&N air filter,
coated HPC headers, and an Aero Stealth
200 muffler were chosen to help breathing.
The Mount Logan aluminum radiator with
Spal electric fan keeps the 5.3 cool. A Vanco
Hydroboost brake system supplies plenty of
power to the disc brakes on all four corners.
An Optima RedTop sealed battery sits in the
stock battery tray.

Rock Slide Engineering rocker guards are
angled for clearance yet still provide plenty
of protection.
A TeraFlex Belly Up skidplate/crossmember protects the Atlas without giving up any
breakover clearance.
Heated Beard Enduro seats are comfortable
during long days off-road. The Tuffy Security
console is strong and lockable.
A Power Tank PT-10 handles quick tire air
ups easily. It also powers impact drivers and
other air tools on the trail.

Mount Logan built the Ford 9-inch housing
with a centersection from Currie Enterprises.
Drag link, 7075 aluminum Mount Logan tie
rod, track bar, and steering-box brace are
beefy and ensure failure-free days on the
trail. A Rock Slide Engineering steering-box
skid protects the AGR steering gearbox. Wilwood front disc brakes work very well, especially coupled with the Vanco Hydroboost
system. The Yukon aluminum third member
houses 5.38 Sierra gears and an ARB Air
Locker. Nate Williams fabricated the AGR
ram mount. The 4340 chromoly axleshafts
have CTM joints. The aluminum long upper
and lower control arms are Mount Logan’s
own and use Johnny Joints from Currie Enterprises. A Tom Wood’s custom front driveshaft has a 1350 joint at the pinion and a 1310
CV at the transfer case.
The Warn 9.5ti winch sits nicely on the Rock
Slide Engineering front bumper/grilleguard.
The AEV heat-reduction hood is part of the
Highline fender kit and really works. You can
see heat rising from the vent when you’re on
the trail.
Check out the excellent rear shock mount
fabricated by Nate Williams.

The Advance Adapters 4.3 Atlas transfer
case works as they always do: well. It’s hard
to appreciate all the Atlas can do until you
drive a vehicle without one. Try pivoting
around a rock without front-wheel drive.

KM2 tires fit fine on 17x8 Walker Evans
Racing beadlock wheels. With the AEV
Highline fender kit, the 40s don’t rub. At all.

The interior is clean and functional. Auto
Meter gauges keep the driver informed of
what’s going on. A B&M tranny shifter and
twin Atlas sticks make shifting easy.
