WIR - May 9, 2014 - Center Line Public Schools
Preparing All Students for College and Careers May 9, 2014 Superintendent, Eve Kaltz One of my all‐time favorite events of the year is the Turn Around celebration for students who have made a decision to work harder, participate in their own learning, and stand boldly when others taunt them about taking the high road. Sixteen students from all levels were honored for their perseverance and hard work. These students were nominated by staff members and were recognized at a lovely ceremony on May 6. A few years ago, the Michigan Department of Education demanded a turnaround for all public schools. Some in public schools run from the expectations, blaming parents and society for students’ lack of academic progress. Others have embraced the changes and have worked hard to practice self‐ reflection and evaluation, data review followed by instructional shifts, and the drive to know and understand each student. These teachers have earned the turn‐around award and are precious gifts to our students and their families. This week we celebrate our teachers and the rest of our staff. We celebrate the strength, beauty, and spirit of those who make a conscious decision every day to dedicate them to a better future by serving each student in a way that engages and excites them and leads them to becoming agents in their own learning. At the Turn Around Ceremony Revered Tyrone Martin said, “We must strive to be better today than we were yesterday.” By doing so, we will turn public education around and make Center Line Public Schools a place where all students thrive. To those who are courageous and willing to fight for students, I thank you. For those who always put our students’ needs first, I praise you. For those who know that reaching the difficult to teach is truly worth a celebration, I honor you. Thank you for your hard work. Let’s join together to make Center Line Public Schools the best in the state. 

WOLFE MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENT HONORED WORLD WIDE FOR ARTWORK DESIGN Jordan Fancher, Wolfe Middle School student was honored at the MCEC Annual Conference in March. His artwork design will be displayed on the cover of the CEC journal and on their website. This is a VERY SPECIAL and exciting honor recognizing his artistic talents to a global community! This competition required hours of hard work and dedication to achieve this high level of performance and Jordan now moves on to the National competition. We are very proud of Jordan’s achievement. The Salvation Army MATTS has an abundance of baby formula located at 24140 Mound Road, Warren, MI 48091, 586‐755‐5191. Any individual in need is welcome to stop by to take what they need. Greetings from Woodside Bible Church! Please find attached a certificate for a free oil change for single parents in our community. It has been our privilege to provide this annual service for the last 3 years, and are looking forward to another great day. We have found that the vital regular maintenance of a vehicle in a single parent’s home is often neglected, because of the urgent demands that can take precedence. This is one way that we can provide assistance and encouragement to families struggling to make ends meet. Please make this certificate accessible to the single parents that you serve. And also express the importance of making appointments. We will not be able to care for “walk‐ins”, as we expect the demand for this will be significant. Saturday, May 17, 2014, from 9 AM – 4 PM Woodside Bible Church 27300 Hoover Rd., Warren 586‐758‐4750, ext. 308 Dan Stewart Campus Pastor
