Salvation Army’s Angel Tree & Silver Bells
Last year, the Salvation Army provided toys, clothing,
coats and other much-needed items to more than 12,000
Central Virginia children in need. The Angel Tree Program allows you to purchase gifts for a specific child. The
Silver Bells Program is similar to the Angel Tree Program,
but is geared towards adopting a senior citizen in a designated nursing home and providing items such as clothing
and toiletries. Riverfront Plaza tenants generously adopted
80 Angels and 20 Silver Bells in 2014. When you adopt an
Angel or a Silver Bell, you receive the individual’s age,
sizes and a few wish list items. Watch for the Concierge’s
holiday tree to appear on November 9th. Select an Angel
or a Silver Bell and help make a child or a senior’s holiday
more joyous. Gifts must be returned to the Concierge
Desk by Friday, December 4th, to allow for timely distribution to the recipients. Please DO NOT WRAP your gifts.
Place gifts in the provided red mesh
bags with the Angel or Silver Bell tag
securely attached. Thank you for
your support!

Eastman Johnson’ s Views of Mount Vernon
Virginia Museum of Fine Arts
Now through February 2016
8:00p.m. to 5:00p.m.
A generous loan to VMFA from George Washington’s
Mount Vernon, two paintings by Eastman Johnson depict
the crumbling structures at the first president’s plantation
where twenty-six African American slaves still lived and
worked in 1857. Owned at that time by the president’s
great grandnephew John Augustine Washington, the once
-imposing estate on the Potomac River had fallen into
great disrepair and Johnson’s paintings emphasize this
disintegration that, far from the gaze of family and tourists,
loomed ominously over their enslaved occupants.
