Carlisle PA is situated in south central Pennsylvania, at the intersection of I-81 and I-76. The Fairgrounds are known worldwide, for hosting huge car shows and swap meets, such as Corvettes @ Carlisle. The grounds are fenced, gated, and guarded24 hours a day, and specifically designed to hold car shows. Each space is 10ft x 30ft, grass covered, and is adjacent to a network of paved roads. What else is going on? The Show Grounds are non-stop all weekend! There is a Ladies Oasis, a Kids Corner, a huge Car Corral, seemingly endless vendors, a timed road course, a Burn-Out Contest, a Bathing Suit Beauty Contest, a Classic Car Give-Away, a Charity Auction, 50/50 drawings, Silent Auctions, Seminars, Autograph sessions, GM Special Display Cars in addition to special Invitational Display cars, and......Bumblebee...the star of the Transformers Movie. Even without all this, the comroderie of over 1000 Camaro owners (yes, spouses count) just cannot be matched anywhere. Add to all this, a great display of Firebirds, and you will be in F-Body Heaven!! Where should we stay? With over 750 fbodies, plus all the other GM show cars, vendors, and car coral owners.....housing can get pretty tough to find - unless you book early, or are willing to drive over 30 minutes. To help out, the A.C.A. has reserved a block of 100 rooms at the Hotel Carlisle. Located about 6 miles from the fairgrounds, at 1700 Harrisburg Pike, Carlisle PA. 800-692-7315. This hotel has a huge parking area (room for your trailer) and is a great hang out location. You must specify American Camaro Association when you make your reservations, to get into this block of rooms. For a list of other motels, go to our website www.americancamaro.org and click on ‘Camaro Nationals’. What about Camping? There are campgrounds nearby, but many attendees - including the “Nasty Z/28.com” club, camp on grounds in the overnight parking/camping area. It is semi-primitive but the guys do have a real blast! Log onto www.carsatcarlisle.com. Click on ‘GM Nationals’, then ‘Register’, then ‘Parking’, and complete the appropriate forms. What if I trailer my Camaro? Classes 27 ,40, 41, & 45 include trailer parking on grounds in the invitational parking area. Trailer Parking for other classes, (and camping), can be arranged at a nominal fee, with the Carlisle Fairgrounds. Log onto www.carsatcarlisle.com.
