Tips for fun Cub Scout pack!!!!!!!! One of the key tool in having a successful pack is keeping the cub scouts interested. Boring pack meetings will only lead to bored scouts. Here are several ideas to bring some excitement to your next den meeting or pack meeting • Skits - What is a scout meeting without a scout skit? Every meeting should have one skit prepared by a different den. The skit can be elaborate or only last a moment. These are fun to watch and help prepare the scout for speaking in public. • Halloween - The Halloween meeting can be most fun of all. Scouts can dress in costumes and have a parade around the room. The month before, ask each den to create a Halloween display for the October meeting. They can create a "haunted house," a game with a Halloween theme - anything they want! The display can have candy for each visitor. Then have a time during the meeting for everyone to walk around the room enjoying the displays. • Toilet Paper Mummies - Another good break for a meeting! Each scout has a partner. One will be the mummy, one will be the wrapper. Each wrapper has one roll of toilet paper. When the leader yells, "Go," the wrapper must wrap the mummy with as much toilet paper as they can. When time is called, the winner is most wrapped. Now comes the "clean up" lesson! Make sure you have a big trashcan, and see how fast the group can clean up all that toilet paper! CHOCCOLOCCO CHOCCOLOCCO 2010 CENTENNIAL QUALITY DISTRICT District Executive Steven Miles [email protected] Cell - 256-223-2999 Guys, I hope that everyone has wrapped up their popcorn sales and I do hope that you all had a successful effort. As of last Friday, we were at just over $53,000 sold with 6 more units waiting to report. It is going to be close and I should know by today whether we made it or not. Regardless, we had a heck of a sale and I am very proud of all of the units and their efforts. Every unit either matched last year or had an increase in sales. That is huge in itself given these times. You guys have made Choccolocco District a proud district with what you have accomplished. Let's keep it up guys and finish out the year strong. On another note, we matched last year's attendance for Cub Scout Haunted sending 180 youth and families through the camps. That is a great effort by the district and a tribute to your efforts as leaders for providing the program. Great job, guys. The Round Table and District Committee Meeting will meet this week on November 3rd at our usual location. This is at the Anniston LDS Church just off of HWY 431 on Lenlock Lane. District Committee will begin at 5:30 p.m. The Round Table will be at 6:45 p.m. See you guys there. We will have a presentation dealing with NYLT so make sure that you guys show. We have the Cub Scout Belt Loop fair coming up in November guys. It is on November 12th at the Oxford UMC and will be hosted by Pack 4010. Please see the attached flier. BALOO training will also be conducted that day. Please see the attached flier and registration form for it as well. We have Cub Leader Specific Training on November 19 at St. Marks. Please go to the following link for the training flier.http://www.choccolocco.org/training_fliers/CLSTNov2011_distributed.pdf Don't forget, the JSU Merit Badge and Webelos Pin Fair has been scheduled for January 21st at JSU. Registration is now open and online at http://1bsa.org/jsu-merit-badge-fair.php. Classes will be capped at 25 per class unless otherwise stated. Cost of the fair this year will be $7 per session. We will have a patch available for everyone who participates. The system is set up for individual registration per scout. We cannot group scouts by troop. Sorry for this.
