women of all ages and of diverse backgrounds.
Contributions to the Cedric the Entertainer and Friends gala will enhance the
delivery of comprehensive women’s health services to thousands of patients
in our community.

Greetings,
I invite you to join me in celebrating the second annual, An Evening with Cedric the
Entertainer and Friends gala benefiting the Rosetta Boyce Kyles Women’s Pavilion at
SSM St. Mary’s Health Center. The gala is scheduled for Saturday, October 10, 2015 at
the Peabody Opera House.
This festive evening of elegance features an auction, dining, intimate performance by a
national artist, and VIP pre-and post-show receptions. Participation in the gala at a
premier sponsorship level provides an opportunity to join an illustrious group of
corporations, civic groups and individuals in attendance.
Information about available sponsorship opportunities is included in this package. I

The “women’s pavilion” consists of a team of doctors, nurses, and caregivers who offer
a full spectrum of women’s services and treat women from adolescence through postmenopause.
Along with exceptional health care, SSM St. Mary’s provides health education,
programmatic support, and resources for women as they care for themselves and their
families. SSM St. Mary’s will be one of the first comprehensive women’s health centers
of its kind in the St. Louis metropolitan area.
We have the creativity, care providers, community support and expertise to establish
ourselves as pioneers in the evolution of women’s health care in St. Louis.
We have served more than 24,000 inpatients from Missouri and Illinois between
January – November 2014.
The Rosetta Boyce Kyles Story
A single mother of two successful grown children, a teacher of more than 30 years, a
hard-working, faith-loving woman, Rosetta Boyce Kyles was determined and steadfast in
her fight to battle cancer.
Rosetta Boyce Kyles was everything but a cancer patient.
Although her cancer journey included several surgeries, extensive
rounds of chemotherapy and radiation, and excruciating pain, her
positive outlook on life and putting others before herself, even
while fighting cancer was a testament to her strength and
resolve.
“Although her body was weak, her faith was stronger. She knew
God was in control. So despite the pain and the physical demands
of chemotherapy, she fought without flinching and moved
forward with a purpose in her fight to beat cancer. ” Rosetta’s
daughter, Sharita Kyles Wilson, said.
In 2009, when her cancer journey began it was Francisco Xynos, MD, at SSM St. Mary’s Health
Center, who spent many hours answering questions and treating Rosetta with exceptional
care. He ended every visit by asking the Kyles’ if they had questions. His attentiveness and
caring manner struck the Kyles family. Dr. Xynos was detailed in his follow-through and
instilled a level of trust that is important to any family experiencing cancer. During a time
when the Kyles’ experienced the uncertainties of cancer, it was the SSM St. Mary’s mission –
“Through our exceptional health care services, we reveal the healing presence of God,” that
became a comfort and cornerstone for the Kyles family.
During her 30 years of teaching elementary education, Rosetta accumulated more than 300
sick days, but she never missed a day of work. Again, her commitment to education, as well as
her students was a testament to the values evidenced in her life’s work. Rosetta lost her battle
on Monday, June 1, 2015 and remains an inspiration to all. It is her example, her hard work
ethic, and her belief in the healing power of God that is at the heart of the Rosetta Boyce Kyles
Women’s Pavilion.
The Event
An Evening with Cedric the Entertainer and Friends!
Charismatic actor/comedian and St. Louis native Cedric “The Entertainer” will host
the second annual event supporting women’s health services at SSM St. Mary’s
Health Center.
Proceeds from the gala will support the pavilion, which will be named after his
mother, Rosetta Boyce Kyles, a former cancer patient at SSM St. Mary’s. An Evening
with Cedric the Entertainer and Friends will be held Saturday, October 10, 2015, at
the Peabody Opera House. David Steward, chairman and founder of World Wide
Technology Inc., will serve as co-chair of the event, along with his wife, Thelma. The
event will feature Cedric’s celebrity guest as entertainment, soon to be announced.
“My mother’s exceptional care at St. Mary’s has inspired me to give back,” Cedric
the Entertainer said during a hospital visit. “What better way than to support a
future women’s pavilion at St. Mary’s that will enhance health care for the St. Louis
community? I’m committed to making ‘An Evening with Cedric’ a signature event in
my hometown of St. Louis.”
SSM St. Mary’s, known for its distinctive capabilities in high-risk obstetrical services,
began its first phase of the women’s pavilion in 2014, focusing on programmatic
support for mothers, babies and healthy families. Funds raised continue to help
support women’s health services, community outreach and educational programs
offered at SSM St. Mary’s.
