It is one of the great romantic works for orchestra—majestic and transcendent. The music of Donovan Seidle opens the program, and Bruch’s famous violin concerto will be played by the fiery and expressive violinist Elena Urioste, making her KWS debut. Three Russian masterpieces are combined to create a program bursting with musical colour, virtuosity and fantasy. Tchaikovsky’s rarely heard music to The Tempest opens the program (a favourite of Edwin’s); Alon Goldstein makes his KWS debut in Prokofiev’s fiendishly challenging Piano Concerto No. 3; and Scheherazade takes us on a magical journey of sound, storytelling and imagination.
