CBN’s Orphan’s Promise Partners Bring Love and Hope to Orphans Around the World PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE How Jesus Loves Them by Michael Little Whenever I visit an orphanage supported through the compassion of CBN partners, I see firsthand how you are transforming young lives. In Ukraine, I met with students in the new computer classroom you built to equip orphans with a good education. In Thailand, I saw boys and girls happily climb aboard a bus you helped provide so they could attend a school miles away from their orphanage. And in Cambodia, I saw widows weaving on large looms you supplied so they can support their fatherless children. Jesus affirmed the significance of ministering to children by saying, Whoever welcomes a little child like this in My name welcomes Me (Matt. 18:5, niv). Thanks for welcoming these orphans into your heart by sharing God’s love with them. Michael holds a Cambodian orphan whose life you changed. Page 2 700 Club Interactive CBN to launch new show on May 25th! H osted by CBN’s Chief Executive Officer Gordon Robertson and 700 Club Co-host Terry Meeuwsen, 700 Club Interactive is CBN’s newest show. It will begin airing on May 25th on the ABC Family Channel at 9:30 a.m. est. The heart of the new 700 Club Interactive show is to let its viewers experience the power of God that is present and working in people’s lives today. It will offer the audience an opportunity to receive prayer and ministry from worldwide spiritual leaders and fellow viewers from across the globe. The show will be highly interactive, incorporating live chat on screen, taking prayer requests via Skype calls, and using Facebook and Twitter. The idea for the show grew from a regular webcast that CBN.com started last year, which developed an online community of thousands of people from around the world. Said Gordon Robertson, “The response to the webcast has been tremendous, with people logging on from many countries including Saudi Arabia, Hungary and Japan. ... We’re seeing that the members of the online community are continuing to minister to themselves and others around the clock and not just when the webcast airs.” If you’ve been looking for more prayer time, expanded teaching, and step-by-step demonstrations of using the gifts of the Spirit – you’re going to love CBN’s new 700 Club Interactive. Bill couldn’t stop smoking Since sixth grade Bill was hooked. Even when his dad died of cancer, he couldn’t quit. Then he received a special message – and that same message can set you free. Whose report will you believe? In his 70s and facing a home filled with mud and debris, Matt desperately needed help Matt approached Operation Blessing’s cleanup crew and asked for help: “I can’t do this all by myself!” Then, overwhelmed by what had happened to his home, he broke down in tears. Matt, like many others in this rural community of Linton, North Dakota, had to evacuate his home to escape the freezing flood waters. When they returned, they found destruction and loss. You made it possible for Operation Blessing’s disaster relief team to be among the first to help. You provided a mobile kitchen to feed victims and volunteers. Operation Blessing organized cleanup crews, who worked in knee-deep snow, to clear homes of mud and debris. You changed an overwhelming nightmare into an opportunity for hope. Matt said it best, “This is an awesome day! Thank you for coming to help us out.” After this police officer was hit by a drunk driver, doctors said Mark would lose his legs and never heal. Mark chose to believe a different report. Find out what happened. When you need a creative miracle Collin’s eardrums had completely deteriorated from disease. But God Almighty is the great Creator – and He had a miracle in store. God can do a creative miracle for you too. An OB volunteer cleans mud and debris from a home in North Dakota. But as a CBN partner, you are rescuing precious young lives from poverty, disease and neglect through Orphan’s Promise. Here are just a few recent examples: • When Cambodian children were clawing through a garbage dump looking for something to eat or sell, you brought them to a Christian school where they receive education and nutritious meals. • When Romanian orphans were laughed out of school because they were dirty, sick, and in rags, you gave them medicine, clean clothing, and tutoring so they could re-enter school with confident smiles. Thanks to partners like you, Orphan’s Promise now gives hope to precious children in these 30 countries. • And when Colombian girls were abused and abandoned by drugaddicted parents, you provided them with safe shelter where they found healing for their bodies and hope for their hearts. Page 6 A History of Innovation, Integrity and Excellence God has been faithful to give Pat Robertson a unique ability to read the times and understand the pulse of the nation and the world “I didn’t own a television set. This wasn’t my field. But God Almighty profoundly led me to leave New York City and to come to Portsmouth, Virginia, with $70 and buy a television station.” ~ Pat Robertson In 1960, with a boldness fueled by faith and trust in God, Pat Robertson named his newborn ministry The Christian Broadcasting Network. “God’s plan far transcended one little television station,” said Pat in his book, Miracles Can Be Yours Today. “God was thinking of a technology not yet born – satellite television.” From the innovative use of satellite television to the world’s leading Christian news organization now on the World Wide Web, CBN continues to break ground in utilizing the latest technology available to support its mission of preparing America and the nations of the world for the return of Jesus Christ. Over the years, God has been faithful to reveal His plans and give Pat Robertson a unique ability to read the times and understand the pulse of the nation and the world. Pat’s desire has been to share those insights with people everywhere in order to improve their lives. Partners and friends of CBN are aware of Pat’s keen economic wisdom and his ability to understand and analyze the chaotic financial world we live in today. Pat has taken that unique understanding and written his 19th book, Right On the Money: Financial Advice for Tough Times. In it, people will find a practical step-by-step guide to financial health and stability in this turbulent world. Right On the Money: Financial Advice for Tough Times is available on CBN.com beginning May 27th. As Seen on The 700 Club’s Skinny Wednesday What Not to Eat The right choices can help you lose weight, increase energy, and improve your mood C BN News reporter Lorie Johnson recently interviewed nutrition expert Joy Bauer, author of Joy’s Life Diet. Bauer’s advice? “You don’t want foods that can help you lose weight while elevating your cholesterol and blood pressure. The wrong foods can give you headaches and leave you feeling cranky.” • WHAT NOT TO EAT FOR ENERGY Millions of people think foods that contain sugar give them energy, but nothing could be further from the truth. Sugar actually zaps your strength. Bauer explained, “It’s deceiving because you do get an energy boost moments after eating sugar, but minutes later your energy level plummets lower than it was before you ate the sugar. So if you’re feeling sluggish and tired, cut out refined sugar, fruit juice, corn syrup, honey, and jam.” Johnson added, “Stay away from refined or white carbohydrates like white bread, bagels, white rice, and pasta. These foods break down so quickly in your digestive system, it’s almost like eating plain sugar. On the other hand, whole-grain versions of the same foods are great for you – high in fiber, which keeps you feeling full and satisfied and they digest slowly, giving you energy.” • WHAT IS THE #1 FOOD TO AVOID? Bauer stated, “The worst food that people should avoid at all cost is soda. Soda is just empty calories, pure sugar. ... If you trim one 20-ounce soda off each and every day, at the end of a year you have saved 125 straight cups of sugar from entering your body, and you can potentially lose 26 pounds just from that one tip.” And stay away from soda’s cousins: fruit juices and sports drinks – many are loaded with unneeded salt and large amounts of processed sugar. In addition to sugary drinks, steer clear of hot dogs. Bauer explained, “They call it a protein food but it’s 70 percent fat, so people should work on minimizing or eliminating Did You Know ... their intake of hot dogs.” And Trimming off one 20-ounce walk away from anything soda every day for a year will fried, especially deep fried, and save your body breaded. The fat in fried foods 125 cups of is bad for your heart and makes sugar – and you you gain weight, a “double can potentially whammy.” Instead, turn to lose 26 pounds. baked, grilled, or steamed food ~ Joy Bauer for overall healthier meals. teaching by Pat Robertson We Are His Chosen, Beloved Children God shapes every circumstance in our lives for good What a tremendous blessing to be chosen by God as His children! Romans 8:14-16 says, For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. ... You have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God. Even before God created the universe, He ordained that we would be part of His family! Ephesians 1:4 says, ... He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world. As His dearly beloved children, we can rest assured that He will always take care of us. Romans 8:28 tells us, And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. This means that in His love, God will shape every circumstance in our lives for good. He forgives whatever sins we have committed, declaring us innocent through Jesus’ death on the cross. In fact, God’s love for us is so strong ... that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:38-39). God is delighted when we share His love with the world so that more sons and daughters are adopted into His family. And someday, He will take us to live with Him in heaven, where His love extends throughout all eternity. God bless you. Scripture is quoted from the nasb. Page 7 the 700 Club in canada Praying for Revival by George Woodward President of The Christian Broadcasting Associates QUÉBEC is considered to be the largest mission field in both North and South America. Its landscape is filled with large traditional churches that are just waiting for revival and reformation to come to fill them with spiritually hungry people. Many people with a traditional church heritage have a reverence and respect for God and will become very excited and exuberant believers when their eyes are opened to the love of the Father. ONTARIO has always been so sure of its economic strength because of its manufacturing and commercial foundations, but today those foundations are being shaken. I believe that Ontario is poised to see the many prophetic words spoken about it come to pass. Please join me in praying for these two central and strategic provinces. The heart of this new show is to demonstrate the working out of God’s spiritual gifts in the lives of believers. As we begin this adventure of faith, I am encouraged by the promise God made through the Prophet Joel in the Old Testament: And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy … (Joel 2:28-29, nkjv). It’s amazing to know that God desires to speak to us and through us. God wants to speak to you. God wants to use you to demonstrate His love and power to a world in need. The above verses from Joel tell us who qualifies to receive God’s Spirit. All flesh. Not just perfect flesh, not just teacher-preacher flesh, but all flesh. This includes you and me. The Almighty God Page 8 has chosen to use us to minister truth, love, healing, and mercy in this fallen world. I like to put it this way: God has voluntarily limited Himself to our unlimited ability in Him. God is no respecter of persons. What He has done for others, He will do for you. We activate His incredible gifts by faith. We must step out in faith and use the gifts God has promised us. No one gets saved or healed by our “good thoughts.” It requires action. We share, we give, we prophesy, we pray – and God does the spiritual transformation. That’s what 700 Club Interactive is all about. It’s a safe place for you to build your faith and exercise the spiritual gifts God has given you. Together, we can share the love of God with our neighbors and the world.
