Sometimes they just create a gift for no particular reason at all except for the chance to shower love on another. Or perhaps they create gifts for donation to charities where they know they may never see the smile they bring to someone else’s face but also know the great feeling giving such kinds of gifts can bring. Clearly quilters are loved, for God loves a cheerful giver. It is a delightful experience to daily share in the joy you have in the creation of gifts for others. For that we thank you and are as motivated as ever to provide you with an environment that stimulates and supports your passion to create and give. As you’ll see on the cover, the staff has just completed a beautiful “Stitcher’s Garden” quilt with Batik fabrics. Best Press Wendy M. recommends...the Panasonic 360 Freestyle Iron. This starch alternative is the best thing I have ever used and it comes in great scents (Caribbean Beach being my all time favorite). I use this on fabric before cutting, anytime I’m embroidering and, of course, on my shirts everyday. It is cordless and comes in a cute carry case. It has a curved sole plate that has points on each end, a detachable water tank and GREAT steam. It’s first on my list from Santa because it’s everything a sewing lover wants in an iron. Jen recommeds... Milliners Needles size 11 by Patchwork With Busy Fingers. These needles are spot on when doing fine handwork such as English Paper Piecing and Hand Applique. They are the perfect length with a sharp tip, a gold eye, and a wee bit of flexibility which makes for a comfy fit in your hand. I really like that they come in a small tube with a twist cap – they won’t slip out of their container and walk off! And you get 10 needles per tube! Linda recommends... Clover Wonder Clips I love these little clips when putting on bindings. They come in 3 different sizes so you can choose your favorite...or all of them! Kathy recommends... Sewline Needle Threader It is getting harder to see to thread my needles and this Needle Threader works great every time. 8 Noreen recommends... Chaco Liners This is one of the notions I use the most. They come in different colors so they work on all different fabrics. They make thin lines and it brushes off easily. The Quilting Bee ~ Spokane WA, 99206 ~ 1-888-928-6037 STAFF AND INSTRUCTOR RECOMMENDATIONS Michele recommends...the Sew-line Fabric Pencil I do a lot of hand embroidery and have used many different pens and pencils and this one is the best! It is soft – so the lead doesn’t “catch” on the fabric. As you work on a project the pencil lightens and is virtually gone by the time the project is done. You’ll want more than one. (Another great thing about the pencil – it’s pink!) Monika recommends... Hoop Grip This is great tape when hooping your embroidery. It really grips the fabric and you get a much tighter fit. But, I also love HEAT PRESS BATTING TOGETHER. This iron on tape lets you join pieces of batting that look perfect. Carol recommends... Easy Kut Spring Action Scissor I use these to readjust and guide fabric while sewing, and to trim threads. I keep this tool in my hands at all times for quick and easy sewing. Nicole recommends... Clover Glass Head Pins Being a new quilter, they allow me to pin all I want without damaging my fabrics. I am working toward that perfect ¼” seam! Judi recommends...the Electric Seam Ripper Since ripping seams is what I seem to do most, the Electric Seam Ripper is a fantastic tool. It zips through seams quickly! Teresa recommends...the 880 Special Edition sewing and embroidery machine. I could not create the designs and projects that I make for classes and gifts without my machine. I love all the features on this machine, especially the automatic threading, the built in basting boxes, the speed (sorry Kathy) and the professionalism of the stitching. Visit us online at: www.quiltingbeespokane.com 9 STAFF AND INSTRUCTOR RECOMMENDATIONS Debbie recommends...Straight Tailors Awl I can’t sew very long before I reach for my Tailors Awl. It is especially helpful when sewing projects with small pieces. It is great for keeping half-square triangles lined up while feeding them under my ¼” foot and preventing me from sewing through a finger. It is also a great way to keep seams lined up without pinning. Nancy recommends... Star Singles I just finished a baby quilt that had over 100 half-square triangles! I can’t even imagine making it without this product. With Star Singles I make eight precise halfsquare triangles with each Star Single sheet. Now you can make those quilts that you avoided because of the half-square tirangles. Happy Sewing! Treasure recommends... Creative Grid 20.5”x20.5” Ruler I bought this ruler for a special Claudia Dinell Class thinking I was never going to use it for anything else because of its size...But, this ruler rocks! It is true that I most often grab my 12” square, but this 20 ½” is the second most grabbed ruler in my toolbox. Whitney recommends...505 Spray Spray it, stick it, hold it, sew it! It is an all around versatile lightweight glue that acts as a second set of hands. Whether you are quilting, embroidering, doing applique, or layering, 505 Spray is a must have for every sewing enthusiast. Add it to your list of must haves today!! Wendy “ Modern” Iris recommends ‘the best notion on the planet’...the rotary cutter. It modernized the quilting world. You can use your modern rotary cutter with the best ruler on the planet – QUICK CURVE RULER. Give all your old traditional blocks a modern “curvy” look. 10 The Quilting Bee ~ Spokane WA, 99206 ~ 1-888-928-6037 QUILTING BEE CLASS LISTINGS Class fees cover your instruction time only. I have heard that there is a question about the color of the replacement oil that we sell for the machines. The oil for sale on the floor is the oil recommended by Bernina USA for that series of machine, and it is made by an American company. The oil that comes with the machines is from a European supplier. Now, what is really important is that the oils match in purity and viscosity and that they do. So do not let the color difference detour you when making a purchase. 30 The Quilting Bee ~ Spokane WA, 99206 ~ 1-888-928-6037 INTERMEDIATE - scissors MACHINE EMBROIDERY DOLL CLOTHES - $48 – Teresa Let your embroidery machine create readyto-sew doll clothes in the hoop.
